on Friday. I didn't do an awful lot but it tired me out again. I have however made an appointment for the doctors for next Thursday as I am still coughing up a storm and I think that's what is tiring me out.
I did get the second coat of paint on the attic and it looks fine. We have friends coming over for lunch today. After they leave I want to pop to the paint store to buy paint for the attic walls so I can get on with that next. Rona has a promo on that you get a gift card back for spending so much, so may as well take advantage of that.
Went into town to do grocery shopping. If anyone shops at Loblaws or Supercentre or that chain of stores, they have a great promotion on where you buy $20 of Pepsi/Quaker/Tropicana products until May 19th and you can get $30 in PC gift cards back. The $20 worth of purchases have to be on the one receipt, and the mail in form is in the store. As we drink Tropicana juice and eat Quaker granola bars and cereal, this was an easy on for me.
I see the price of gas has dropped I got it for $1.319 a litre at the Canadian Tire gas bar; still cost me $60 to fill the car. I use well over half a tank of gas going back and forward to work each week.
Got a busy couple of days ahead of me, so might not be around much.
Enjoy your weekend everyone...........

A visit to the dentist.........
I had my 6 monthly check up yesterday, which resulted in my being put back on antibiotics for an infection where I had my root canal done last year. As per my dentist a small percentage of people's root canal's are not successful.............of course I am one of the small percentage {{{SIGH}}} I go back on the 17th to have another x-ray done and to make sure it is fine; as at this moment, it isn't!!!
I have to say my dentist knows me so well, as he skipped over that area while he was cleaning my teeth, as he knew fine well he would get it, as I had warned him not to touch it, but his assistant forgot and she was just about to spray cold water in that are when I clamped my mouth shut. The dentist warned her not to do that or she would get it from me.....LOL
I am also a major gagger when it comes to having x-rays done. I really don't like it when they put the plastic thing in my mouth, it makes me want to gag. We have decided I am a perfect little helper though, as I have that plastic thing out of my mouth and in the assistant's hands in a flash when she has taken the x-ray!!!
I didn't get around to writing a post last night, as I was so tired when I finally got home. Luckily I had made shepherd's pies the night before, so we had them for supper. I am hoping maybe these antibiotics will also cure this awful cough I have as it's wearing me down all this coughing.
As always got a busy day ahead of me so I guess I had better get on with it.......

Funeral at the Acreage on Wednesday.......
Bit of background first though. We changed insurance companies and they required a home inspection??? So the guy came on Wednesday afternoon to do it. He wanted to know how the dishwasher was plumbed in and to do that I had to move some cans of Raid in the cupboard underneath the sink and what did we find.....but a dead mouse. I let out such a scream, frightened the daylights out of the poor guy, I then had a coughing fit, as yes I still have a nasty cough.......
Anyhow when things calmed down I put on my yellow marigolds (rubber gloves) and marched to the field to give the mouse a full burial. Luckily the wind was blowing in the right direction as I hurled it over the fence. It wasn't rigid, so it can't have been dead too long. However I haven't caught any mice in ages, so not sure where this one got in at, and is there anymore lurking about? I just pray and hope the wildlife motel isn't open for business like it was when we first moved in.......see here
Got work today, enjoy your Thursday...........

Forgot to tell you about the art gallery fundraiser.....
We had a super time again at the art gallery fundraiser. This time we were chosen around 5th or 6th and so I got my top pick this beautiful watercolour of a Canadian Waxwing by the artist Catherine Delhaise. I also had the privilege of meeting her and she was a lovely lady who lives north of Oshawa. The details on this watercolour are just beautiful and as I said to her, it will be going to a home where it belongs and will be loved.
Dd was picked around half way through the night so her first choices were taken, but she had this one on the list of ones she wanted. Now she is not going to be happy me saying this, but her choice is no better in real life than it is in the picture!!! However each to their own and some people may hate my choice and love hers. I will say it will fit nicely in her condo as it is very modern. It is made out of concrete.
For those of you in Southern Ontario looking for a puppy, check out these cute ones they are looking for a loving home........

My to do list from yesterday
I was quite surprised at how much I managed to achieve yesterday. Infact I did more than I thought I would get done. As our living room is one of those rooms you all have; "if in doubt stick it in there room." I got a bit of that sorted out and threw a couple things away.
Clean the bathrooms.
Do a load of laundry.
Go and vote. Although we did vote, they didn't make it easy for us, as there were no signs indicating it was the voting station other than a very small one on the main door, but as you have to park at the back of this place a fat lot of good that did!!! Luckily someone pointed us in the right direction!!
Do more work in the attic, still got some primer to put on a couple of places and sand down the baseboards where I filled in the nail holes. Hopefully get the first coat of paint on the ceiling.
Made a gourmet supper........I am being sarcastic here!!! Got four chicken breasts out of the freezer yesterday, so will cook them and have two for tonight's supper and two for tomorrow nights supper.
Got a couple of phone calls to make.
Try and clean some of the house.
Plant the cotoneasters.........though I already know that won't happen!!
Plus a hundred and one other things that need doing.
So did manage to make a dent in the to do list. Should have gone outside after supper to do some gardening, but was just too tired to do that.My to do list for Tuesday is pretty simple:
Got to work
Make supper
Anything after that will be a bonus!! Hope you have a good day on Tuesday........

Suffering from "blog burn out"
Not sure if that's the right expression or not, but don't seem to have the same enthusiasm as I normally do for my blog at the moment. I think it's because I am juggling more "balls" at the moment trying to get a lot of things done in a short time.
I am finding the older I get the faster time flies by. Also I don't feel as organized as I used to be. We're on a deadline to have the attic finished by the 16th of May, so we are busy doing things in there every day now, including me. I am getting to the stage where I will start painting the walls and ceiling. The goal this week is to get the ceiling painted twice. I know it doesn't sound a lot but I have work and visitors and other things planned also this week, so fitting in painting is hard.
I cancelled guests coming for dinner this past weekend as we were so busy, so am not doing that this week. I don't remember when we last had anyone over to the house, other than the kids. Then there is the garden, the grass is growing like crazy and I know I could start cutting it if I wanted, but with the price of gas up to $1.369 a litre I am putting it off as long as I can. I need to spend a week just going through the raspberry patch weeding it. Never mind weeding all the flower beds and the veggie patch!!
Oh and did I mention the state of the house. I am sure you can write your name in the dust!!!

So all in all I am feeling a tad overwhelmed at the moment and the blog is being neglected because of it. Do you get days/weeks like that?

Another fire........
don't worry this one was a controlled one, in the fire pit!!!
I had a day in the garden on Saturday as the weather was really nice...finally!!
We had to pick up the trees that I ordered from the township last winter. We got 10 red oak's and 2 hemlocks; they look like twigs but no doubt when our great grandchildren are adults, they will look very nice!!
I had to pop to town to get some more soil and picked up some Coteneasters ( pronounced k-tone-easters) at a great price, only paid $4.99 for each one. They only had five left otherwise I would have bought more.

I also bought a Ranuculus as I loved the colour. Will buy more for the tubs when the better weather arrives, as we had a hard frost again on Saturday morning. Meanwhile I will keep this one in the house adds a bt of cheer on the window sill.
I also moved five small fir trees I got as saplings. I first showed you a photo of them here They have grown quite a bit, so I planted them on Kamikaze Hill. My goal is to completely cover Kamikaze Hill with pine trees as its no use for anything else in my humble opinion!!
Must say I am as stiff as a board though this morning. Must have used muscles I haven't used in a while!!
