Isn't she a little beauty..........

DRAT, DRAT AND DOUBLE DRAT.  THIS POST WAS SUPPOSED TO BE PUBLISHED ON THURSDAY, BUT I PRESSED ENTER TOO FAST!!

After working my tail off for the past couple of days, I decided to run errands on Wednesday.  Both my hands were killing me, so a slower day was in order.  I started off the day by going to the hospital to get some x-rays taken of my wrists.  I have an appointment to see the surgeon on December 28th, and needed up to date x-rays for some reason.  If anyone is a nurse, could you tell me why I need x-rays for carpal tunnel?  I have had the neurology (I think that is the correct word) testing done, so I figured that would be it?

You would be ever so proud of me, I parted with a pile of magazines and dropped them off at a friends house.  I still have all my Prima magazines, but the pile has been reduced considerably.  I know its only a baby step, but at least it is a step in the right direction.

In the afternoon I decided to go to Cookstown to the Antique Market where I spotted this little beauty:
I am going to use her as a bedside cabinet in the spare bedroom.  I got 20% off as they were having a sale and she cost $108 plus taxes.

On Tuesday night I knocked over the lamp on the desk and did this too it:

Please ignore the coaster, I made that before I knew the correct way to quilt.  While at the Antique Market I found it's twin:

I ended up paying just over $30 for it at the same place.  My base is nicer, so I will get dh to switch it over when he gets a few moments.  I must say I was shocked at how much desk lamps are, or at least the nicer ones.  So I thought my $30 was a good price.

I saw a gorgeous chair, with terrible fabric on it, but good bones.  Don't think I will be able to persuade dh to go and take a looksie though....but you never know (wink, wink!!)

All in all a positive day and got some good jobs jobbed as I say.

The grass police are coming to get me....

I am just waiting for a knock on the door.  You know how I am always preaching about how you have to cut your grass in a different direction everytime you cut it, so it grows back in thicker?  Well I didn't do that I cut it the same way I did last time in the field on Tuesday. I have lots of reasons excuses as to why I did that, but that doesn't matter, I did it.  It was also a "flaps down," kind of day, to see what I mean see this post.  I wanted to get some of the field cut as it was awful long in places.  I may or may not cut the front grass on the weekend if it dries up, as there are some leaves that need mulching, otherwise I am done cutting the grass for this year...YEAH!!!!

I mentioned in this post, that we had bought an old dresser for the spare bedroom.  I finally got it all cleaned up and put together on Monday so I took a couple of photos.  It goes perfectly in the bedroom and with the period of the house.

I love the detail on the mirror. The bed is from Ikea.

What neat drawer pulls, don't you think?

It's seen a lot of wear and tear but is still in lovely condition.

New table

Our family is growing and will continue to grow and so we have outgrown our dining room table.  We brought our old one with us from Britain  over 22 years ago and because it is solid pine it is still going strong and will continue to for a long time.  However as it is only five feet long and very narrow we wanted a big farmhouse style one for our farmhouse style kitchen.

We found a store in Stayner called Billy Hill Pine  They have a lot of unfinished pine furniture but also a lot of finished stuff as well.  We (dh) decided to pop in again a week or so ago and check out the tables again.  When we went in the owner was in the store, a really nice guy and we got talking and we got a great deal on the table and two end chairs and delivery.

We basically only paid for the table and got the chairs and delivery thrown in free as they were all floor models.  The brown wood chairs are ours from our old set.  Dd wants our old table and chairs when she gets a house of their own, they are renting a condo at the moment.  So I will wait to get matching black distressed side chairs until she takes the old set.  The table is a little big, a seven foot long one would have been better this one is 8 feet long, but I am really pleased with the look and it is perfect for the kitchen.

I will say if you do decide to visit the store, negotiate with them as they will move on their prices.  There is also a 15% discount coupon on their website, so if nothing else you will get that off your purchase.

Always on the lookout for ideas for around the house.

Dh has been saying he would like to change the TV stand now that we have a flat screen TV.  So of course I have been searching high and low for the "prefect"  LCD TV Stand and I think I have finally found it.  What do you think about this one.  Our furniture in the family room is burgundy and green, we have wood floors and panelling on the walls, so I thought the antique white/cream would add a bit of brightness to the room?  I also like that it isn't too modern looking and it has plenty of storage in it.  Plus I want to eventually paint the walls an antique white colour to add an air of lightness to the room?

I have to admit my mind is all over the place with decorating this house as there is so much to do, and only so much money in the pot, but I guess that is the same with everyone isn't it?  So I need to shop around even more to see how far I can stretch what little money we have.  One thing in our favour though is the American dollar is on par with the Canadian dollar which makes buying across the border even more attractive at the moment!!

Dd went to a store called Creative Bag on Thursday and they have a fantastic website full of fun things, check it out.

DOWNTON ABBEY: THE GRAND FINALE - Official Trailer [HD] - Only in Theate...

This to my mind it will be like saying good bye to a family friend, for me it's a must see.  Not sure when it will be released over here...
