The "anaconda" has to go.......

The "anaconda" is in fact my central vac system.  In theory it is a great machine, but having to drag a 50 foot hose with you wherever you go, gets annoying pretty fast.

So I have turned my focus to one of these; a Dyson cordless vacuum:
Now I have no experience with any of these; but Dyson has a good name.  They are expensive and there are different models.

The Dyson V6 Slim retails for $399.99
The Dyson V6 + retails for $499.99 and is pictured above
The Dyson V8 Animal retails for $599.99
The Dyson V8 Absolute retails for $699.99

Now which model is the best?  Do I buy the most expensive or just go with the cheapest?  Has anyone had any experience with these?  Should I be looking at another brand?

Currently I try not to vacuum more than twice a week.  We mainly have hardwood in this house with the bedrooms being carpet and the area rugs on the floors elsewhere.

I will not be buying this anytime soon.  It's on my wish list; like a 48 inch tv is on dh's wish list!!!

I'be bought the V6 slim recently. It works very well, but it's a bit noisy.

We have a Dyson, we've had one for years... Love it! Not sure which model it is, but it's good! With hardwood floors mainly, the one you've chosen looks like a good buy! We bought ours when we had carpetting in most of our house... Now we're all hardwood, so I I had to buy again, I'd definitely go with a smaller and lighter model like that!

my daughter has a regular Dyson and I can't use it -- it is too heavy. I have a Miele canister and I struggle with it. I have my mother in laws Oreck and I hate it because the head is too big to get under the furniture. So......I have mostly travertine floors so I dust mop and I have a carpet sweeper that I use on the throw rugs. The bedrooms are carpeted so I vacuum those. I have a little hand held Oreck that I use to dust the baseboard and the bottoms of the furniture she shutters. I really don't like vacuum cleaners.

We were at a family function a few weeks ago. Brother in law railed on and on ad nauseum about what a piece of $#@! his new Dyson vacuum is. I was considering a small one for my sewing room but I'm rethinking that. My daughters MIL has a bigger one and likes it. It's a hard call.
Downstairs I have an ancient TriStar and it is the best thing I've ever had in 40+ year. Heavy mind you but it rolls around nicely. The grandkids liked to ride it when they were tiny.

My parents always had cleaners you could pull along as opposed to a central unit.

Dyson's do a good job, but many carpet manufacturers won't honor the carpet warranty if a Dyson is used;at least here in the states.

We had a Dyson in our previous home. When we moved, we had the carpeting here replaced and the warranty specifically stated not to use a Dyson, so we had to purchase a new vacuum.

Not sure how it works where you live, but thought I'd mention it. Best wishes on your new vacuum.

Never used a Dyson. I have a Sears Kenmore Upright which I hate...well, I suppose it's okay for carpeting, but the attachments are a pain. On my vinyl I use an vacuum for hard floors. It gets under the cupboards nicely. I will certainly enjoy hearing how this turns out!

I have two dysons. An upright and a pull along. And I love them both. I'm thinking of getting the cordless to use around the fire place as sweeping and dragging the vacuum out everyday just to do a small area is painful. I think most cleaners now are very good. Go and try a few out. And yes remember you will be lugging it around the house so make sure it's light

I have the Animal Dyson and I wish I had a different vacuum cleaner. My husband says I should be a tester for vacuums as I know what I want and have yet to have found it. I find the Dyson to be too heavy and awkward to use especially when using the wand with the hose. It's a battle and I usually lose. I take warfarin as I had a pulmonary embolism last winter and the next day after using my Dyson, I have several mysterious bruises on my arms and legs. It's not worth the price. My husband often does the vacuuming - I guess you could consider that one advantage. Ranee (MN)

I have a 'big' Dyson which is amazing at getting up the fluff etc on all surfaces. But it's quite heavy for OAP me, but my husband does most of the vacuuming so that works well. I have a 'stick' Dyson like the ones you showed and I love it for a quick clean up in the busy areas. We have mainly tiles and polished floorboards...loose rugs are a bit of a challenge for the smaller machine but I don't have many. I use the smaller one every day in the kitchen, hallway and family room. However, my husband considers the smaller one to be a 'gutless wonder' and prefers the big one. ( there's a theme here though...he dislikes my Micra car, preferring his big Toyota thing) 😉

Bit of a late comment but anywhooooo .... I have an animal dyson and the small battery operated one. I love both but be aware that the battery operated one only runs for about 10 minutes.
