"Projects begetting projects"

When I was over at Farmer J's blog yesterday I saw that phrase and thought I so know how that feels.

It all started out with me saying to dh, "do you fancy building me a closet in our bedroom."

Dh being the love that he is said no problem.  Famous last words.

He had to remove this cupboard/closet thing we had in our bedroom and relocate it at the other end of the room.  This cupboard has a shelf in it and hooks to hang your clothes on.  We are going to shelve it and use it to put sweaters in.  So far so good, however dh (the electrician) discovered where he was going to put it there was an electrical socket, and you can't block off the electrical socket.  No problem put it on the other wall.....but wait.......there's an electrical socket there as well.  So now the electrical socket is to move.

When dh moved the cupboard, the king and queen of idiots hadn't bothering finishing the floor underneath the cupboard so that was to do.

While drywalling the closet dh notices that the ceiling in our bedroom is cracked and so that needs to be repaired, and as the drywall wasn't put up right in the first place, stippling it won't work we've discovered, so have to have a guy come in to quote us on repairing that.

As we have no closet space in this house, we need to make use of every inch of space in this closet, therefore it makes sense to go "custom."  That means more expense though.

Old house, so you can't go to the hardware store and buy trim and molding off the shelf, so have had to find a speciality shop that sells something similar, as to have it custom made is going to costs hundred's and hundreds of dollars.

What I thought would be a couple of weeks project is turning into a couple of months project.  I have got the closet painted inside so dh can start and put the trim back up.  I painted the closet "Almond Tart,"  which is a light beige colour.  So we are making progress, slowly but surely.

Dd and future son in law are coming over on Saturday and we are going to hang drywall in the attic, as its more than a two person job, as that room is still to finish.  It's never ending in this house that's for sure!!  And did anyone see where the money tree in planted in my garden, because I can't find it????

I won the book below by John B Olson on a giveaway on Relz's blog the other week and it came in the mail on Thursday.  The cover looks creepy doesn't it? It's classed as a Fiction/Christian/Suspense book.  Can't wait to get into it!!

Do you remember this song and group:

I had forgotten about them.  Can't stand the lead singer though.........LOL

Did you remember to put your money in the Daily Savings Pot today?

Today's Money Saving Tip:

If you're painting to sell a house, consider using a lower grade paint in a neutral color and a flat finish. A new owner will likely paint the room their own color anyway and you haven't spent a ton of money to make your house look nice while it's on the market. You're not going to get a lot of wear in the time from when you paint it to when you sell it.

Oh, yes, projects beget projects. This is something Darling Husbie came to terms with years ago ~ it seems to happen in several aspects of our lives, whether it be the house, the vehicles, the farming equipment...you name it.

What brand was your 'Almond Tart' paint, Gill? I'm looking for some new colors for the barn house.

Thanks so much for the laugh! We've got the same problem here, each tiny project turns into several large ones! That's why the original Ten Year Plan is starting to look like Thirty... maybe Forty....

I don't remember the song but the video is a hoot, kind of a Monkees-Meet-the-Oompah-Loompahs thing they have going there!
