My very first selfie!!

Ds showed me how to take a selfie.  So I thought I'd try it out.  I think I forgot to suck my cheeks in though?

There is the fire pit somewhere under that snow where I put the ashes.

 When I took this photo the weather network said with the windchill it was minus 30 oC.

 Plenty of wood still to use, plus there is some around the corner, but can't get to it for the ice.

 I bring in around a dozen logs every day.  Here they are waiting to go inside.

Then here they are all the logs stacked up in front of the fireplace waiting to be used.  I got the other photo enlarged and back and it is also on top of the mantelpiece but no doubt will be moved when the home stager arrives!!

Priorities............

It's that time of year when there is too much to do in any given day.  If the body is feeling good then you get lots done; if its hurting not as much gets done.  Then if its stinking hot I need to stay indoors; if its wet and cool the indoor jobs get done.

At this point though it's a case of taking a deep breath and getting as much done as you are able.  I still haven't got any veggies planted.  Dug a tiny square of the veggie plot, probably enough to plant one tomato plant...LOL  Still have not made a start on weeding the flower gardens.  The weeds are as big or bigger than the actual flowers!!!  The grass has grown another two inches as you read this.  Can hardly see the raspberry bushes for weeds.  I can see a theme here, weeds, weeds, and more weeds!!!

The inside of the house is full of dust, so as it's going to rain, I need to get the duster out and take care of that!!  I have a quilt that needs sewing along with two baby books and a ton of other sewing to do.  On the plus side though I have more or less completed one of my cross stitch items on my list.  Also completed all my book reviews for the month.  Plus keeping up with my swagbucks.

Got a list a mile long to do in the house.  So I need to set priorities as to what to do first!! 

By the way in the 30 oC heat yesterday we did get the branches chopped up and stacked for use in 2014.  It's always a "pleasure" stacking logs on a red hot day!!!  Mind you with the way the months are racing by, it'll soon be winter!!!

Been good so far and not turned on the a/c..........not sure how long I will hold out for though.

Poured down on Tuesday.........

so we went out on a road trip to a place called Singhampton.  Why Singhampton; well my dad said there was a place that sells firewood.  Found the place and sure enough it sells firewood and a bit cheaper than I can get it around here, which will save us around $140 to $200 for the three bush cords.  So now I have to find the money to order it.


By the way we saw a lovely property in Singhampton that we thought would suit us just fine, this one  What do you think?


We then drove to Barrie and went to the mall.  I picked up some Christmas gifts, so will put them away.  I also got to spend some time in Chapters book store which I love and picked up some magazines to read.  It was close to supper time by the time we got home. 


So I wonder if England will be kicked out of the World Cup today? 


There was a protest downtown Toronto by the Gender Justice Advocacy Group on Tuesday.  Not sure what that has to do with the G20 summit, but they protested..................I guess that is the start of all the protesting that's going to be happening.


Dh is going downtown also on Saturday as he is going to the Toronto FC game.  Fingers crossed the traffic won't be too, to bad?

Oh and finally....had some soup on Tuesday for lunch and yes it was hot.  However since then I have had chronic toothache AGAIN........I give up.........or those in the dental profession, what do think is wrong with my tooth?

This is what 3 bush cords of wood looks like!! I nearly had a heart attack when the guy turned up in a dump (tipper) truck!!

So now it is my job to move all of them, round the corner of the garage and stack them on the log store we made.

We had to buy the wood to make it with but we had everything else on hand.

Saturday is going to be a busy day for us, as the kids are coming over to give us a hand around the house and the garden.

*****Blogger is doing things to my posts, I had deleted the "Another anniversary" part of the heading, but I see it has appeared. So the Anniversary part I was going to tell you about, is it's 28 years ago today when me and dh went out on our first date!!

Firewood and grocery shopping.....

I am trying to find a good price on firewood. Prices range quite widely I find and I am still not 100% sure who I am going to go with. Basically I am going to get 1 year old, half dry wood. The cheapest place is $290 a bush cord, another place $320, and another place $350. The $290 is in the town just down the road from us, so pretty convenient and his name was given to us by the fireplace store.

Oh, and the fireplace store gave me this link to a website that I can get a piece of tin panel for my fireplace. I would love to put in a tin ceiling in our kitchen at some point. I love the look, I also like the idea of a tin back splash as well.

I went to the city on Friday grocery shopping, the city has a population of 27,000 which actually surprised me, as it doesn't feel that big. Anyhow I have discovered a couple of things that save me money. At Zehrs they put 50% stickers on their deli, salads, bakery. I stocked up on a pile of bread, buns, bagels and an apple pie, all at 50% off, so that saved me a bunch a money.

Then in Sobey's its their meat department where they put their 50% stickers. I picked up 5 fresh chicken breasts for $8.50 and a pork roast for under $4. All these good buys are helping stock my freezer. Both these grocery stores are opposite one another, so its very convenient.

I also filled my gas propane BBQ tank for $10 today, as this place was having a 3 day sale...YEAH!! Then when I got home there was a message on the phone from "K" to say he wanted $1950 (taxes incl) to supply and install the skylight in the attic and for all the work on the roof. I wasn't impressed. I thought it would be closer to $1500, so I am getting another company in next week to give me a quote. Dh has got the roof pulled down in the attic and only has the knee walls to pull apart now. Well done DH!!!
