Odds and Ends.......

It's one of those bits of this and bits of that post.

My dear four legged friend had me up at 4:30am on Wednesday morning as she wanted a pee. Now I have to say it was a blessing, as I saw the most gorgeous night sky ever. It was just covered in stars, I have never seen so many stars in years. With living in the city, you got a lot of light pollution and of course airplanes. This sky was just stunning. I would have taken a photo, but it was 4:30am for goodness sakes, no one in their right mind is up at that time of the morning......well other than dh, poor thing.

Anyhow after telling Molly she had to go back to sleep, she let me sleep until around 6:15am, and when I let her out, the sky was stunning again. I have posted the photos of those on my Skywatch Friday post, which will be up around 2:30pm today. I have never, ever seen a sky like this before, let me know what you think, you won't be disappointed.

So on Wednesday I got the rest of the grass cut. I even washed and cleaned the lawn tractor when I finished; the poor thing is collapsed in the garage suffering from shock over being washed!! It was a beautiful day with little to no humidity. I of course decided to finish off cutting the field after I watched Eastenders at 12:30pm. Which is all well and good but now I have sun burnt knees!!! I know who but me would get sun burnt knees??? I must say they are stinging. I normally wear pants when I cut the grass, but had my shorts on this time. I would take a photo of my knees, but seeing my knees once on this blog on this post, is scary enough for anyone!! Just try to visualize them being bright red!!

I call Staples to find out what's happening with my laptop and they have ordered a new motherboard for it???? They reckon there is nothing wrong with the charger??? Funny, when dh plugged in his Dell charger on my Dell laptop it charged no problem. Oh well, at least I know I won't be paying a penny for this. I just hope its not the start of a lot of problems with the computer, as it is only 18 months old.

Look who I found in my bird feeder:

How he could get anymore in his cheeks was beyond me!!! I do have a squirrel/chipmunk proof bird feeder as well!!

They have been combining the field across the road from me, beside the field where the horses are kept. It's ages since I have seen a combine harvester up close like that. There were two combines harvesting the same field.




Things are quiet around the Acreage, only because it has been so hot and humid. It has worn us both to a frazzle, but hopefully by the end of Tuesday night we should be over the worst, I hope!! So needless to say not much has been done around the place. I did get some more of the grass cut on Tuesday but still have a ways to go.

Should also mention I am not on the computer much as my laptop is in for repair. Actually there is nothing wrong with the laptop itself, it's just the charger, and as it is under warranty they insisted the whole thing went out for repair???

Country time - City time

I touched upon this the other day. These guys around here work on their own time frame, which turns out to be completely different to mine!!!

I finally got an answer about the fireplace, now granted there had been a family emergency, so that should be a go next week. I negotiated a 5% discount which I thought was fair, and it is money in my pocket!!

The roofing guys didn't show, they're coming on Monday, how did I know this, I had to call "K" to see what was going on!!! Not sure how long it is going to take to train "K" to make sure he calls me to keep me in the loop with these tradesmen!!!

I am also going through a period of where everything I touch I break. It is so frustrating its awful. Poor dh I think dreads coming home, as he has no idea what he has to mend this time. I managed to get a bolt tangled up in the lawn mower, I was so lucky I didn't ruin it. I screwed up the computer royally yesterday; still not sure its alright.

We have an old stone double sink in the basement, and my washer drains into that and then the water goes into a pump and its pumps it out to the septic. Well it was icky, so I clean it. Well that turns out to be the worse thing I could do, as I bunged up the sinks. Couldn't find the plungers, dh found them, and I have got the water draining away, very, very slowly. Does anyone have any suggestions on a drain cleaner, that won't harm the septic??


Finally it has been raining these past few days, so of course the grass is growing like crazy, so did get to cut a bit of it last night between the showers. We have friends coming over today, so sort of hoping "M" might like to be a gentleman farmer for a day and want to have a go on the lawn tractor...LOL

Have a good Saturday and Sunday, as my main computer is still playing up.

It's a sad, sad day......

in that British Woman's house......my beloved red Dell Laptop has gone away for a vacation. Where you ask, to dd house. For how long, no idea.

Dd laptop went KAPUT again the other day. This isn't the first time this has happened, infact it's the fourth time it has happened. Now to cut a long and miserable story short, she faxed over her receipt to HP on Thursday and she should be getting 80% of the money back on the receipt. How she got to this point is long and painful, but basically they knew she meant business and within an hour and a half of being on the phone she was through to a case manager and had a case number etc. Which may not seem like an achievement, but believe me it was a great achievement. It can take days before a case manager speaks to you.

So as dd is still in school (final semester of her graduate studies), she needs access to the Internet. Dd boyfriend only has a desktop and it doesn't have a wireless connection which is what they need where they live. So I was gracious enough to offer up my laptop until she gets another one.

Dd was talking to HP yesterday and they seemed to think she would have her money within a month???? Dd of course doesn't want to buy another computer, until she knows for certain how much money she is getting back, and when. Which to my mind is very prudent.

So I am now having to use our desktop in the spare bedroom. I normally work on my blog and on the Internet in the family room when I am watching tv. So last night it was strange, no laptop. I sat and did some more of my cross stitch which was fine, but I am missing my little red Dell.

Dh is always saying I am addicted to the computer, and I have to finely admit I am. I just pray and hope my poor little baby is not away too long. Meanwhile I will be sitting by myself in the spare bedroom......
