especially with the grandchildren! I personally think all three year old's should be lawyers as they all have the art of negotiating down pat!! So imagine my surprise when I discovered I had won a competition. I live behind an author and she was having a Facebook competition to guess how many words she would write in a month. What would you think? The answer will be at the bottom of the post. I came the closest without going over. She handed me my prize over the fence yesterday 😊 I am as pleased as punch with the prize.
I got a signed copy of one of her books:
and this lovely mug and pen.
If you have a moment you can read more about her here.
Now onto something completely different. I was looking at this bag of peas I had in my freezer:
What other types of peas are they if they're not 100% natural?
Answer to the question was just under 24,000 words, I guessed around 23,500. That's a lot of words isn't it?
I am a British born, living in Canada since May of 1989. My blog is about all aspects of my daily life.

That's one way of getting my butt into action......
Angie at The Knitting Basket is having a competition and you have to submit photos of how you organize your stash of yarn. So I decided to sort it all out and put it in some sort of order and without spending any money.
We have some Ikea storage baskets in the basement so figured I would use one of those.
As you know I have been knitting less than a year, but have been quilting for many years. So I knew all about "stashes," and as I have enough material downstairs to sink a ship, I was determined not to go down that path with yarn. I can safely say I have failed!! However I do know I can/will use this yarn at some point, just as I can/will use my material stash at some point!!!

If you are on Facebook I will post the link to the contest, maybe you can vote/like my photos, as that is the way to win this, by getting the most likes for your photo(s).

Quiet day at the Acreage.......
I had a horrible headache on Monday and it wouldn't go away. Not sure if its a migraine or its sinuses? All I know is it's so annoying. Despite that I did manage to get a couple of little jobs done around the house. We had snow flurries on and off all day, not amounting to much, but have to admit its starting to look more and more like Christmas.
Since we have got this new internet I have decided to enter more competitions online. So far haven't won a thing, but have high hopes I will one day!! Do any of you enter competitions and how much luck do you have? What's the best thing you have won? Do you have any tips?
No Christmas Party is complete without this tune playing a dozen times!!
Feliz Navidad!!!

Cheats Version of Cabbage Rolls
I have been making this dish for years, its like cabbage rolls, but a lot easier. I have entered this recipe in a competition.
Ingredients:
1 lb lean ground beef
1 onion chopped
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 cup long grain rice
1 can tomato soup (condensed)
1 can mushroom soup (condensed)
1 soup can water
3 cups cabbage, shredded
Shred cabbage and place in a large dish. I use a large lasagna dish, and use around 1/4 cabbage.

Fry Meat and drain off fat.

Add onion, salt, pepper and rice, stir.

Add soups and water, mix well.

Pour meat and soup mixture over the top of the cabbage. DO NOT STIR!!!

Cover pan with aluminum foil, and bake in a preheated 350 oF oven for around 2 hours.

It is yummy and so simple to make.
