And the mudslinging begins............

On August the 2nd 2015,  Prime Minister Stephen Harper requested writs of election for a federal general election from Governor General David Johnston.  Basically Parliament was dissolved until the general election on October 19th 2015.

I have mixed feelings about all of this.  The thought of all the mudslinging for the next couple of months, does not sit well with me.  During this time I am guessing squat all will get done re: the Government.  And finally, I have no faith in any of them for the first time in a long, long time.

I guess it could be worse, we could have Donald Trump running for Prime Minister..........

Despite assurances this isn't going to cost the tax payer, I DON'T BELIEVE THEM!!!  {{{SIGH}}}

That's all I have to say politically..........back to my usual topics tomorrow!

Finally because this always makes me smile........

11 weeks of it! So happy to be missing that aspect of it, although that does still give me time to check with the Consulate in London and see if I am able to vote there or if I need to get myself organized to mail my vote. I'm not sure how it WON'T cost the taxpayer, because ultimately all government costs come down to the taxpayer. Anyway, it's going to be an interesting 3 months for you all. I just have to see the feeds come through on Facebook... xx

Mudslinging? How about our circus? I don't like politics. I did watch the debate a few days ago. It was interesting but not terribly informative. I do watch Fox News sometimes and I was disappointed in the moderators. Probably won't be watching another.

I do not, for the life of me, see why those running for office think they have to slander all their opponents. When did that become the standard? Oh dear, don't get me started. Elections are never fun.

Unfortunately, whoever wins will be a career politician. They are all as bad as each other. But you're right about Trump! Of all the people in America, he's who they might vote in? Time to emigrate to Pluto I think.

Oh I agree about elections and we have over a year to hear the mudslinging here in the U.S. I detest what elections have become. And the promises. Then nothing changes. I've become cynical about politicians and think that they're all the same.
Blessings,
Betsy

I'm not a fan of politicians and I'm not a fan of any of the ones running right now. I think our whole system needs an overhaul and a lot of changes; new parties, new faces, new methods. It's been running the same way forever; time for something different.

I can't comment on your politics Gill but I sure did love that video!

I have lost all faith in politicians. Some people say Donald Trump is just stirring the pot and has no intention of being president. I think he has delusions of grandeur and is serious. I just might move to Canada if he is actually elected.

Crumbs politicians all over the world seem to be untrustworthy. We're stuck with the rich post boys who haven't a clue about living in the real world. However no matter how bad they are they couldn't be as bad as that moron Donald Trump. Good grief!

Best of luck Gill!

Not looking forward to this campaign. It seems like it is going to be nasty.

We have had elections every year in Roscommon, because as soon as one gets in as a counsellor, he then goes for TD (MP) and then on to Euro MP. I know this is only on a local level but every year, they spend 1000s of euros which is given to them by our goverment which is from tax payers money, on 100s of bloody posters. We have them EVERYWHERE..it's a waste of money and the fact they keep moving up means they really have no interest in anything but their own careers. They are all ruddy useless. I like the American mudslinging: I don't actually hear what they are saying because Donal Trumps hair just mesmorises me. Is it alive or isnt it????

So far the only slander I have seen has been from the PC government. Or perhaps rather then slander I should say scare tactics. Slander/scare tactic against the PC government has been more a grass roots movement then any particular party from what I can see.

Harper is also the one who called the election weeks before it needed to be according to our laws. His party has double the amount of money to spend on ads and such.

I do vote, but I hate the way our politics have become an extension of how the U.S. runs their campaigns.

God bless.

Our UK election went quite quietly in the end by comparison. Well until the vote and then the next day all whatsinames broke loose.
