Food prices forecast to increase in 2026, with meat leading the way

A video well worth watching.

Luckily for us, we don't eat meat every day.  Gone are the days when it was meat and two veg every night for our supper.

I swear it's one thing after another with everything increasing in price.

Have you changed your diet due to the increase in food prices?

I would say yes, we changed our diet over the last few years. We rarely eat beef here due to the cost and rarely ever make a roast these days.

My hubby ia very much a meat & potato man. But, I am trying to vary our diet a bit...unfortunately everything is going up. I can't believe the price of a can of veggies...or cheese...or coffee!!!

I, also have changed my diet in the past two years. No roasts of any kind, just too much for one person and cannot afford to waste any of it. So opt for one piece of meat, such as chicken or a pork chop. Not only are the prices going up, I do think the sizes of some things are smaller.

We've never been big meat eaters so nothing much has changed for us. We did sometimes buy a beef roast if it was on sale but haven't done that in several years. We rely on hamburger and stretch it as far as we can by adding veggies and pasta. For now, we buy chicken and pork chops/tenderloin (which we turn into chops) but only when they're on sale. We used to eat one pork chop each but now we cut them in half so one chop does both of us. Chicken most often gets cut up and put into stir frys.

Sigh, yes, the corporate bosses hoard their millions while the rest of can't afford meat. We never did a lot of meat but we definitely eat more legumes now.
