15 minutes of fame.........

I was reading this article about the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown and what a three ring circus her funeral turned out to be and it was mentioned half of the people came crawling out of the woodwork to claim their 15 minutes of fame to "appear" at the funeral and mourn her death.  Her aunt was "removed" from the service and immediately talked to the waiting paparazzi.  She apparently wants to star in her own reality series??

The television is inundated with reality series and I always wonder why on earth people subject themselves to staring in these series?

Then I thought are we bloggers blogging for our 15 minutes of fame?  I personally prefer to remain relatively anonymous, as with anything in life very few people tend to agree with everything you say.  I find the press tends to dwell on the negative rather than the positive.

Can't say I know anyone famous, so I won't be in front of the camera's anytime soon; how about you?

Nope. Me either. I actually began to blog as a way of keeping people informed of my trip to Japan after the big earthquake/tsunami. Many knitters and crocheters had donated items for me to personally take to the emergency shelters there. The blog showed them photos and stori s of the people there. I never meant to continue writing it when I returned home, but found a I had made friends that I just didn't want to leave behind. So I continued writing. No fame here!!!!
Blessings,
Betsy

No no-one famous in my life either. However some people seem to trip over the famous don't they.

Before the arrival of the internet I had penfriends. I think blogging is just the computer version of this. I don't see it as seeking 15 minutes of fame but seeking friendship from likeminded people.

Fame, and the famous, are vastly over-rated.

I have no idea why people want to be "famous"! Rich, yes I can see that, although it presents it's own issues, but famous? Never.

I don't even read about the so called rich and famous, and now I'm not following the election news, fed up with it already,
I prefer to remain in my own little world even though I do know a few, famous in their day, people

I don't know anyone famous, and really, have no desire to meet any of them. I would not have a thing to say to them. I don't read about them for the most part...they don't live in the real world. I will hush about this before I make a complete idiot of myself.

I started out blogging hoping to encourage myself with photography and quilting, plus to have a general journal of my days. I still have a long list of quilty blogs I visit...and still taking photos. Sarah loves it because she can go back and look at all the videos and pics of Lorelei.

I think we all want to be loved and known. Fame is a weird concept.

No, no, no -- I detest being the center of attention. I grew up with my father being in the public limelight, everybody knew us, and I always felt like a goldfish in a bowl. So, no reality anything for me although I do watch some of the reality shows like The Little Couple. Do I blog for my 15 minutes of fame? No and it is a good thing since I have no more than six regular readers. I started blogging to write down thoughts and things I wanted to remember and to practice writing as I always toyed with the idea of being a writer. Now I blog for the community of it all. I feel like 5 of my 6 readers are now friends -- the 6th is a relative -- so it is like having morning coffee with my friends and that is enough for me.

No, I don't like to be the center of attention. I will say that I do find the whole "reality" tv genres to be somewhat enlightening. I watch "Bring Up Bates" which follows the life of a family with 19 kids; but I like it for it's entertainment value and nothing more. I don't think anything in my life is worthy of reality TV. As for my blog, I don't see it as wanting fame. I write as a diary of where I am in my life and for book reviews. If others want to read it great, if not that is okay too. Not everyone will find what I write interesting and I am okay with that.

I HATE being the centre of attention being somewhat introverted. And I don't like reality shows either - give me fiction so I can escape reality lol!

I am the same as a lot of the other ladies. I blog to share some photos and chat with all you great ladies. I agree with Andi, just another version of pen friends.

I think that the difference between well known people that I like and those who would lower themselves to any attention ploy is this: there are some people in the world who'd go to the opening of an envelope to get their names in the papers or out there, and there are those who are famous who just look at acting, music, or whatever, as a job, and make a point of staying away from that kind of crap.

I've had my fifteen minutes of fame lol I've been in the paper a few times for little things. It's always exciting when someone rings you and says I saw you in the paper lol
I blog for me. I love looking back over the old posts and seeing how I did something or how things have changed.
I blog so that family can keep up with the goings on around here
And I blog so that, like I did in the beginning, anyone wants to know how to do something, or get ideas can find it on my blog
I always, and still do look for gardening idea, craft idea or Grendel home ideas from blogs. I now have Pinterest and other avenues. But I still love blogs as you get that personal perspective.
And I love that.
Also I love our community. It's like having family all over the world
Thanks for being part of my cyber family xx

Very interesting. I actually am the opposite and get scared that I am leaving such a large thumb print on the internet - this is frowned upon when you want to be a teacher. For me it was about coping with my move and keeping friends/family involved and then it became a social thing and further, a chance to get free stuff and be paid to blog occasionally. I can't see that I would ever be famous from my little blog though!

I don't think I blog to be famous, as someone mentioned I have had my 15 minutes of fame many years ago. I actually was voted hero of the week back when I was the youth coordinator of our parish. Found it extremely embarrassing as I am quite a private person.

I blog as more or less a journal of my daily life and perhaps as a way of keeping track of my feelings. It also keeps me accountable for my goals and plans.

God bless.

I'm also content to live in anonymity. I'm fiercely protective of my privacy so I don't post any identifying photos on my blog.

This is answering Mum's question. Bobbi Kristina Brown is Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown's daughter. Not famous in her own right I don't think.
