This weeks house and cottage......

Can't say I like the house of the week other than it is right on the lake.  With a house that price, you expect it to look perfect, this one hasn't been cleaned up for photos or staged has it?  Also can you see the window a/c unit on the first photo, on a 2 million dollar house what's going on with that???

The cottage of the week now that is more like it, a true cottage in the sense of the word.  Mind you  not sure I could live with all that wood on the walls, but I wouldn't say no if someone was giving me the property.  The photos at the end with the sunset at winter were just lovely.  As price goes also, not too bad a price.  The property is located around 1 1/2 hours from where we live: http://www.maplandia.com/canada/ontario/victoria-county/head-lake/

I see our neighbour has put their house up for sale again.  They tried to sell it back in April of last year without success, fingers crossed for their sake they sell it this time, as I know they want to move closer to town for the kids.  Property seems to be selling around here at the moment, so they may be lucky.

Is property selling where you live?

The "Riparian rights" makes me think of Hyacinth bucket and her picnic on the river. As for the window A/C, maybe the former owner was having hot flashes and needed a little extra cooling. ~Liz

Property isn't selling well here. Anything that does sell, sells for far under the asking price. More home sellers are simply renting the residence after taking it off the market. Some houses out here have been on the market for YEARS!

I actually prefer this week's hous to last week's! As for the window unit, I'm thinking that if youc an afford a house like that, you can definitely afford to have AC put in once the place is yours, so that kind of thing is not a big deal for me. Houses and condos around here are selling like hotcakes!

House #1. On the Humber river..not sure what we'd find floating down there! House #2 Nice enough ,but all the wood? It's a little worrying that there are more photos of the lake than the house.
I'll stick with the one I've got!

It's soooo interesting to get to see these houses. House # 1, though nice on the inside, looks too much like a dictator's compound from the outside. House # 2 has an unbeatable location, but all this wood would drive me crazy. And it's diagonal on top of it!!! Hehe, the 70's called. They want their wood panelling back.

I live in a military town. Like everywhere else, property sales have dropped but not stopped due to the constant coming and going of military personnel.

I like your series of 'House of the Week' very much. My idea of a cottage is very different of course as you know! I didn't like the first house at all. Imagine heating that one in the winter and if you hadn't told me what that AC thingy was, I would not have had a clue. I liked the second one better especially all the wood but I would prefer it to be nestling not standing proud.

The house is a mess - the cat box scoop on the edge of the tub is a real classy touch isn't it? Sheesh. And the sofa is blocking the entrace of the room? Guess they can't afford to have it staged?

I love the cottage - if I were only there for weekends, I could handle all that wood just fine :)

We have a few houses up for sale around here and I would say they are selling moderately.

We had a couple houses Just about 8 houses down listed & sold like hotcakes! Another one at the end of our street again sold fast! There's one in the opposite direction that isn't selling... They're probably asking asking too much or the inside needs work I guess...
