Poor Molly is not well at all..........

I am writing this 6:30 pm on Friday night.  She hadn't eaten for a couple of days, but finally had around 1/2 cup of food at lunch time.  She is also not drinking much and is very lethargic.  She has also had diarrhea.  So all in all not a very happy doggy.

As we are having a long weekend/bank holiday this weekend, we thought it was prudent to take her to the vet.  I managed to get an appointment this afternoon and her poor skin is red raw and infected.
I left the vets with an oral antibiotic, Vanectyl P which is an allergy pill, and some fancy dancy shampoo called Douxo to calm down her skin, oh and a bill for $253.53.

So when we get home she actually had a drink.  I gave her both pills with a cheese slice, which she wasn't happy having but finally ate.  I then carted her upstairs for a bath........remember she HATES having a bath.  Came downstairs and she got on the ottoman and lay there.  After a while she sat up and threw up everywhere?  Let her outside and she was trying to poop but the poor thing has nothing in her stomach.

So called the vet to see what I did wrong, and they told me to give her a Vanectyl P with honey an hour later and then the antibiotic an hour after that with the honey.  Meanwhile she goes outside and vomits again.  I try to give her some honey and she won't have any of it.  So I call the vet again and they tell me to not give her anything else and they will call me in the morning to see how she is.  If she vomits again they want to see her.

Feel so bad for her.......fingers crossed she is feeling better in the morning...

Oh, I so hate hearing this...wish I had something to tell you to try but I have no idea of anything...you'd probably be afraid to try it anyway after all this. Poor, poor Molly. I just hate this for you and her...they are family.

Poor Molly this will be a hard night for both of you. I pray she sleeps and then will see the vet in the morning again. After going at both ends I guess she may need IV. I'm so sorry you are going through this.

Poor Molly indeed. And I don't suppose the heat helps. I do hope she feels better in the morning. It must be very worrying.

Gill, I'm so sorry about Molly. She is such a sweet dog, and I know it's hard on you, too, when she feels bad. I'll be praying for you both. ~Liz

Oh my I think she is dehydrated..and they should have given her a shot for the antibiotic. The poor pup and poor you. Honey I am surprisded at that idea. Try some cooked rice with chicken stock. Just a little. Her allergy's are on a rampage that is for sure. Our Kally has had some issues this summer also but I keep her on the Vanectyl P year round. Costs but she is much happier and so am I ..lol.
Hope to hear a good report soon..Judi B.
