The blueberries are ready......

I have three blueberry bushes and for the first time since we have moved here, I actually have blueberries I can pick.  Ready to see how many?

There is a just under 3/4 cup of them.

So I looked up a a blueberry and raspberry muffin recipe and came up with this one  I went and picked some raspberries and will make muffins today, if I have time.

Is it just me, or do fresh picked blueberries taste so much better than the ones in the store?

Wanted to let you know that Molly is a hundred times better since I put her on the Benadryll.  Her skin has cleared up, her coat is so much more healthier and she isn't chewing her paws and herself as much now.  That's not to say her allergies have cleared up, they are not bothering her as much.

Short and sweet today, as was super busy at work on Tuesday so am tired.

yummy! you are so lucky to have all those wonderful berry plants close to home. I planted some but the drought killed them off. I will plant somemore but I think I will try in some very large containers.

There was no picture with that recipe? I was surprised. Still I'm sure it will be lovely. I haven't made many muffins. Perhaps I'll have a try.
Are you sure the birds didn't eat all your blueberries? I have a friend who has THAT problem.

I would bet the birds have found your blueberries long before you had the chance to get them. We have ours all caged in to prevent them from being eaten by our feathered friends. Bess from MA

Everything that comes from a local garden or farm tastes so much better. The 100 mile rule should apply, as we don't know how long veg and fruit has been enroute before it reaches out local supermakets.
I love blueberries, even eat them frozen as a snack.
Your muffins I am sure will be tasty with all that fruit in them.

...everything fresh picked always tastes much much better then anything gotten from a store. I always wonder what do they spray some of these berries with to preserve them so long on the grocery stores shelves, as I am sure it was some trip before they arrived on those shelves !

They look delicious Gill. I try not to eat muffins nowadays. So tasty but so many calories.

Glad to hear Molly is much better.

I wouldn't know, I have to get mine from the store but I am sure the fresh picked ones are the tastiest. I still love the ones I get, just wish I could compare. I'm sure the difference would be very noticeable.

Great first harvest on the blueberries! Blueberry bushes really like acidic soil. I once lived in North Carolina where the ground was covered inch-high with pine needles, which add acidity to the ground. The abandoned garden next door had three blueberry bushes which nobody ever watered or cared about. And yet they produced blueberries by the buckets. I think it was all the result of the pine needles?!
