Friday am; are you a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper........

I tend to prepare my posts the night before and have them publish at 1am in the morning. That system works for me and people who follow the blog, know when to pop by and have a read.

However last night I drew a total complete blank as to what to write about, so I figured I would sleep on it and do a post first thing this morning. Didn't come up with much but figured you may be sort of interested in the following.

Yesterday my dad came over to help dh some more in the attic and they accomplished a lot. (I will try and take some photos today) Meanwhile I had two men playing the drums very loudly in my head all day. By 1pm I was about past myself, and to cut a long story short I ended up going to bed just before 2pm.

I told the guys just to get on with things I would sleep through it all. Outside our bedroom door, dh's compressor is plugged in, and if you have a compressor you know what sort of racket it makes when charging, I slept through that. The guys were working directly above me, with the nailing gun, a chop saw and other tools and I slept through it all. I woke up at 3pm, feeling slightly better and they couldn't believe I had been to sleep.

Now on some nights the slightest noise wakes me up and I can't get back to sleep, so how I managed to sleep through that is really surprising, but when I have one of my headaches, I seem to be able to sleep through anything.

Are you a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? Once you are awake in a morning, can you go back to sleep again? I can't and have to get up.

You have touched on a raw subject here with me! I take ages to fall asleep (sometimes 2 hours) and then wake up at 5am - and that's it! I usually listen to 6am news on radio as I am bored by then. I do not think in my whole life I have been asleep in the morning past 7am. I would dearly love to have an 8 hour sleep!

for the past year i've been experiencing a less than perfect sleep pattern. i will take a bendryl to try and nudge me gently into a relaxed mode ... some times it works, some times not. i think that age has some thing to do with our change in sleep. alas

I'm a night owl. I don't go to bed until quite late and then mostly fall asleep right away. If I wake up early in the morning I can usually go right back to sleep until around 9 a.m. I seldom sleep in the afternoon unless I'm super, super tired.

Glad you were able to get some rest.

I am the same! I often have a date with Mr. Insomnia.
I often wake at 4:00 and listen to the radio with head phones, or my iPod to CBC radio shows.

I prepost, too. If I have a busy day, it helps!

Nice to 'meet' a kindred spirit!

I'm a "split sleeper" - all or next to nothing. Either I end up waking several times during the night (seems to occur the most now) or I am truly out like a light. We've had horribly loud thunderstorms that I've never heard or motorbikes going by on the road which we are very near to and I don't know a thing.

I wish I slept more like the latter, but sadly I'm turning into a real toss and turn person :-( Apparently it may have something to do with the age I'm at and the fact that I get VERY warm during the night. Also, I find it next to impossible to drop off if it's too quiet and used to always sleep with a box fan on just for the noise.

I'm usually a fairly sound sleeper, I go to bed somewhere between 10:30 and 11:30, read a bit and am usually asleep by midnight or 12:30. I'll wake up once during the night somewhere between 2:00 A.M. and 5:00 A.M. and then go back to sleep until my alarm goes off at 7:30 during the week or 8:30-9:30 on weekends. I'll be woken up by loud noises like scrapers in the winter, thunderstorms in the summer, my cats yelling at me through the bedroom door, or my boyfriend snoring, but I'll generally just roll over and go back to sleep :o)

I would like to know how to pre-post. Must suss that out.
Anyway, like Lindsay says. this is a raw subject for me too. I usually have no bother getting to sleep. Its just that I wake up around four and lie awake for an hour, maybe two, and then feel sleepy again. Sometimes getting up and having a hot drink and perhaps some toast seems to do the trick. Kalms are great too ( herbal).
I am a very light sleeper- I use ear plugs when I am in hotels. Works a treat.

I'm a heavy deep sleeper....or I used to be. I still fall asleep easily (though I've trained myself to in order to overcome severe insomnia more than 20 years ago. I read & fall asleep doing so.) Now, if I awaken in the early am (usually with a miserably full bladder) I evaluate whether I'm going to hurt more from going back to bed or feel horrible from lack of sleep all day. Whichever one is worse I pick the opposite. This is apparently a joy of aging. Can't wait for more!
