I went for my first walk on Friday. It was a balmy 5 oC so figured this was as good a time as any to do some exercise. I walked round the perimeter of the subdivision three times and it took me around an hour and I walked around 6,500 steps.........though that doesn't seem enough? Regardless I at least hit the 10,000 steps on Friday for the first time in ages.
I found this on the internet and thought I might give it a try:
I have a goal of losing 15 lbs by the end of February. I really must try and get off these diabetes pills as they are killing my stomach. The gas and general overall upset stomach is awful. I don't know how people put up with it? I don't think it helps I seem to have inherited my dad's stomach issues. His dad also had stomach issues, so at least I come by it honestly as they say!!
As we are in January and the brunt of the winter weather will be upon us soon enough I am going to start using the treadmill also when I can't or don't want to get outside, as another way of exercising.
I think I will try this when I am on the treadmill, as this seems doable as well:
Do you have a plan of action for exercising during the winter months?
I am a British born, living in Canada since May of 1989. My blog is about all aspects of my daily life.

Quick Reminder........
There are only 4 days left in February for those walkers out there.
Luckily for us we are in for a few days of warmer weather, so I hope to take advantage of it and boost up my miles, as I only have just over 74 miles in for this month!! Also my weight loss is non existent 😨so I need to up my game to the end of the month!!
Here's hoping you are having a better month than I am?

One of those weeks,
Just not feeling it with the walking, same with the eating. So put on a couple of pounds and now only 18 pounds lost.
Anyhow, joined an exercise class in our community centre for old folks!! Remember I live in an "Active Adult Community." So everyone is over a "certain" age. This class is held on a Tuesday and Thursday morning and it is FREE!!! It is sponsored by the government I think, I will look into that and see what I can find as it may be in other communities as well. It's to get older folk up and moving.
It is both seated and standing exercises and you do it at your own pace...............or so I thought!!! Lets just say despite the fact I am the youngest participant; other than the trainer, I am not the fittest one in the group..........I AM SO NOT THE FITTEST IN THE GROUP. Also the seated part of the exercises........well that's also a myth; we do, do a couple of seated exercises but they are mainly stood up. I was pooped after yesterday's and I felt pain in places I didn't know existed.
She wanted us to do jumping jacks at one point. I just looked at her and thought are you crazy.......but the woman opposite me who was probably in her 70's was doing them. Fast marches that woman was bloody jogging??? The woman next to me was as bad, I swear they are on steroids some of these little old ladies.....LOL
There were a couple of times I just wanted to sit down, but the steroid ladies were going as fast as ever, so I didn't dare. Now to be fair there are a number of participants who do sit down and do not do as much as the steroid ladies and do it at their own pace. It was a good workout and a very worth while programme. I will be going again, as it makes a change from walking and she concentrates on different parts of the body. Plus I need to see if I can get as fit as the steroid ladies!!!

Here we go again...........
If you have followed my blog you know how I am "allergic" to exercise. Every time I decide I should exercise something happens. It doesn't help I hate getting sweaty. However I do need to lose weight and the older I get the harder it is to lose that weight. So I have decided to start walking again; but this time takes things slow.
We live at the bottom of a hill. There are three roads going up this hill, a road at the bottom and a road at the top. So I have decided to walk along the bottom road, up road one, along the top road, down road three, along the bottom road, then up and down road two. Sounds easy enough right?
So I did this route on Thursday morning, took me 21 minutes to do it. Going up the hill, thought I would die, recovered going down the hill, thought I'd die again going back up the hill, but recovered enough going back down to think I would live. As soon as I can manage this without thinking I am going to collapse on the side of the road, I will increase the ups and downs.
It's not much but it's a start. Plus if I go early enough (by 6am) not many people are up and can see me!! I was thinking of also doing it on a night around 8pm when it gets a bit cooler as well. We'll see, I don't want to commit too, to much to start with.
This about says it all:

What do I get myself into?
Cindy is having an exercise challenge doing squats. Seems easy enough for me, I think.
Now granted I have to look up how to do a squat. So of course go to exercising for dummies and figure out a chair squat seems the way to go: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-do-chair-squats.html Now due to the fact I am having trouble just breathing at the moment, I may have to wait a day or two before starting this.
I did some grocery shopping on Tuesday and Paid $48.70 for this little lot:
and $3.19 for this.
I ended the month going slightly over budget, spending $304.77, but did have savings of $103.76. May is a five Friday month, so not sure if I can stay under the $300, we'll have to see.
