On Friday we went out at just after 6pm and the price of gas/petrol was $1.24 a litre. Hubby went out to the store on Sunday morning and the price of gas/petrol was $1.37 a litre.
Now correct me if I am wrong here, but I don't think that the oil tankers from the Middle East could have traveled over to Canada and delivered oil/gas up to our neck of the woods all before the latest lot of chaos happened, justifying a price increase????
Feel free to fill me in here. 😕

Yep, price gouging for sure. I hate to think of the profits the oil companies will be making out of all of this.
I just read in the news this morning that gas prices will go up. They sure don't waste their time do they? sigh
Totally agree with you.Just greed.
Codex: Yes it is.
Most countries have at least 2 years worth of processed product. But. The reasoning is that if there's a disaster that can take months or years. This is a way to average it out in case it goes up to 20dollars/litre. In theory not practice.
Down in the US, they justify price increases for the summer blend, the winter blend and because the chief officers have not made enough profit (like they did during covid).
I believe it, everyone is out for what they can make. Can't believe how cheap your petrol is though, works out at 67p/75p a litre, if I've done it correctly. I filled up on Friday and it was £1.30 a litre 😒
It is no different than grocery stores charging more for a jar of peanut butter, if there is a bad peanut crop year. It's going to cost more to the store to replace them and the price is passed to the consumer before the store cost is actually increased
I'm in the UK (East Midlands), and went to fill my mini up today. So far the price was the same as last week, but the queue for the pumps was huge. Xx
It was strange and a little concerning ...
I'm in the UK and as I knew I was going out Monday morning I had previously planned to get petrol this morning, this was before the troubles in the middle east flared up over the weekend!
I found the price was the same but the queues for the pumps were longer than usual !!
All the best Jan
Oligarchies gotta oligarch. Sigh.
It's disgusting
Meant to add that there are always those who profit from these things. Shame on them. We'll be hearing about record profits next!
I had exactly the same thought as I passed by the station last night -- it went from 2.95 to 3.19. They always jump weekly but you know darned well the gas in their tanks isn't new!
