On Sunday we had a scheduled hydro outage from 8am until 6pm in our area. Hubby suggested we should go to the local casino for a pre-birthday treat for me. I will say we are not big gamblers, in fact it's not something we do very often and we do play within our limits.
As we had never been to this casino before, despite it being under 20 minutes from where we live, we "joined the casino" and got a players card, that gave us $10 in free play each.
I had a great time and tried many games, including the ones below.
This one was my favourite. San Fa Tigers.
We used our free play, and then we had $20 each, then hubby used another $20. So in total we put in $60 in cash. I cashed out my ticket after just under 3 hours for around $215, so all in all we came home $150 up. We had budgeted $200 total, so I was able to to put that $200 back and have the $150 to use to put gas in the car and spend on "useful" things!!!
We arrived at the casino before 10 am and left just after 12:30 pm and we were shocked at how many people we in the casino on a Sunday morning.
In the Dominican there was a casino in the resort we were staying at. I had budgeted $20 USD each per night for us to spend on the slots. We went one night and it was so small and not enjoyable at all, that we never went for the rest of the week. I felt it was a total waste of money, so as you see we have enough common sense to walk away.
Do you go to the casino? Or gamble?

No, I’ve not been to a casino or gamble, but your night sounds like fun. And how neat that you won so much money!

I have been a couple of casino's, not recently though. When on vacation many many years ago I won 100.00, back then it was a lot of cash. You certainly had a good day.
The RC's brother and SIL used to go to Rama quite regularly and 'earned' points. Every once in awhile they would invite us to go for a free meal (their buffet was amazing) and the RC and I would take $20 each that we expected to lose. I pretty much always lost but he sometimes came home a few bucks up. Once we 'spent' our $20 each, no matter if we were winning or not, we would cash out and quit. We haven't been in years and have no desire to go again.
I've only been to the casino in movies.
"Do you go to the casino? Or gamble?"
No I don't!
All the best Jan
No we are not gamblers. We work too hard for our money to put into a machine.
We did have one night, many years ago, where we went out to dinner and then the casino with a few other couples.
I had saved for it and had $300. Put aside.
One hundred for dinner
And one hundred each for gambling.
Well dinner cost $70 so I had the thirty left over in my purse.
At the casino I gave hubby the hundred and he and the boys went off
Meanwhile I looked at my hundred, and the thirty.
Nope I wasn’t going to risk the hundred. So I popped that back into
My purse.
On the last push of the button and the slot machine I won!
One hundred dollars.
I walked away with the night only costing us $100.
I was very pleased.
Well done with the winnings and holding onto them.
We've been to one or two I think. We had no clue what we were doing! The machines weren't anything like the ones we used to play when we went to the piers lol. Like you, we stuck to a budget and that was that.
We went to Vegas many years ago when I had spring break from school (I was an EA) and we only went to the casino in the hotel once. I was ahead and gave my winnings to Harvey, went up to bed. He came up about half an hour later and had lost the $40.00.
God bless.
