End of an era...........

I sold our push lawn mower this week; got $50 for it.  We have had it years, and honestly haven't used it in  a few years.  Daughter and son-in-law used it also for a few years at their house.  So it has paid for itself, time and time again.

We got it from Lee Valley Tools.  I see they have upgraded it now, when I looked at it here.
So another thing out of the shed.  I am on a cleaning out kick at the moment.  We need to get rid of stuff; especially stuff we don't use!!

I managed to get this lot sorted to go to the charity shop:

I also decided to go through the bill drawer and the filing cabinet to do some shredding:
We had tax returns from 2010.  I checked online here to see how many years you had to keep here in Canada.  It said 6 years, so I kept 8 years just to be on the safe side.  We had info from prior properties we sold, medical receipts from the early 2010's, all stuff we don't need.  Took a while as the shredder kept over heating despite me oiling the blades and only putting a couple sheets of paper through at a time.

When was the last time you had a session of shredding things?

I had a good old shredding session at Beth's a couple of weeks ago. It was most satisfying! :-) xx

I bought Tommy a shredder, using his cc, and he used it for about ten minutes. He insists on sitting for hours using scissors. It is over near him, so I cannot use it. Silly man.

That mower is what we call a reel mower. I had one and loved it. Someone stole it from my house basement. What I call a push mower is one with gas motor. Self-propelled pulls itself while I guide it.I had one of those and got it caught in vines on the fence. It climbed the fence much to my horror. Tommy pays someone to mow, so that horror is over. I need to throw things out or sell.

I had a good shredding last August, should be due for another one soon. It's unbelievable how fast all the paperwork accumulates.

Can't believe you managed to get $50 for the lawn mower. You must be a very tough negotiator.

I've been overheating the shredded too. I put the shreds in paper bags then burn them in our burn barrel.

Shredding is the bane of my existence at the moment - I have two large bins full of paperwork that needs to be dealt with! I keep telling myself - just do 10 minutes a day - but somehow I never seem to get around to it. I will be stuck at home this weekend as the subway is closed at my end of town so maybe I will get stuck in and get at least a good chunk of it done!
