Had a great meeting, 13 out of the 14 members turned up. Have chosen books for the next 14 months, I will let you know what we will be reading when the list is all written up. Next month's book is "The Vagrant's." I have already read it and reviewed it here. I posted another book review: Rosewater and Soda Bread," which is the sequel to "Pomegranate Soup." Both are super books and well worth reading.
I won't be hosting again until December for the Christmas pot luck. I will be only hosting that one in future, unless someone else can't host a month, then I will step up again.

I bet those Denby pieces are worth a bit now. I wanted to add to my storm collection and was surprised at how much out of production Denby sells for, particularly in America.

Your book club looks like it was lots of fun, that is a great spread for afternoon tea. My book club read "The Miniaturist" by Jesse Burton for May and for June we are reading "One Life" by Kate Grenville, I can highly recommend both of them. Very different novels, though.
Looks yummy! I am reading Harlan Coben's Just One Look, I am a big fan of mystery/thrillers and police procedurals and I also love books that introduce forensics to solving the mystery or murder.

Looks like a nice selection of treats, Gill. I recently finished reading The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared. Currently have a couple of books to start, The Art Forger by B.A. Shapiro and The Death of Santini by Pat Conroy.

Your party looked so nice! I love your new house, too. Currently I am "reading" (listening to an audiobook) Agatha Raisin and the Wizard of Evesham. This is the first audio book I have borrowed from the public library via my Nook.

Your tea at Book Club looks delicious. I'd join in if I were closer. Right now I'm reading The Chocolate Book Bandit. It is from a series of book by JoAnna Carl and I've read quite a few of them. I'm a mystery lover :)

Our last bookclub read - we have our annual luncheon OUT at the end of this month was "Necessary Lie". Mixed email reviews so far, some really liked it. More discussion will take place at the meet. I found it a bit too unbelievable.
I would recommend "A Man Called Ove" I loved it.

Everything looks so tasty! I LOVE the Denby Sweet Pea...I think if I had a lot of room, that I might have wanted a lot of dinnerware. Some of it is just so beautiful.
Everything looks so pretty. Tea tastes better to me when it is in a pretty cup. Love your selection of scones, gingerbread and watermelon. I would enjoy being part of a group like yours. Maybe I should look around my area. Thanks for sharing.

I just started The Siege Winter by Ariana Franklin and Samantha Norman. The author died in the middle of writing it and her daughter finished it off. It's set in 12th century Cambridgeshire and involves the ordinary people affected by the decades long war between Stephen and Maud. It's been interesting so far. Your afternoon tea looks very yummy.

I've started barreling through the work of a British author named Maureen Lee. I LOVE her books. Mostly about folks living in Liverpool during WW2 and the post war period. I'm currently reading "Lights Out Liverpool".
Tea + scones + books = heaven for me!
