took him to the emergency department at our local hospital this morning as he was not at all well.
It turns out he has pneumonia on his left side. They pumped him full of drugs to bring his temperature down from 39.5 oC and gave him a mask with Ventolin and another asthma drug to help him breath.
Brought him home with a prescription, as due to his age as long as he rests he should be fine so there was no need to admit him. If he had been older than it would have been a different story.
He looks a thousand percent better than at 5am this morning, and I am so glad I made him go to the hospital.
His boss just texted him to say, "it must have been one heck of a vacation, that you need another week off to recover for it!!" He will have to be off for the rest of the week.

glad you got him sorted quickly
Oh Gil, I hope he gets well soon! It's a good thing he has you to help him out :o)
Aww.. Poor guy! Glad he was seen & will make a full recovery! I had to laugh at what his boss said though!!! lol!

I am so glad you took him in...seems like pneumonia is so much more common these days. A friend of my husband had it a few years ago and could not believe how bad he felt.
How is Molly? I hope she straightens out here soon for you...poor old girl. Dogs are such loyal creatures, you can't help but love them.
Sounds like you got him to hospital at the right time -glad he is feeling a little better-wishing him a speedy recovery.
glad to hear he is much better!
Glad you know what you're dealing with now. Hope he feels much stronger very soon! ~Liz
Glad he should be feeling better soon, hope Molly does too!
When I was 25 I had pneumonia and ended up in hospital for days on end, which was the best thing as I would get no rest at home with two little boys who were 3 & 5 at the time! After being so ill with it, I realised how dangerous it is. Glad he's doing better with the meds now.
Glad you got him to the dr. early -- pneumonia is certainly nothing to mess with. I am sure he will bounce back quickly, just don't let him over do!
So glad you got him to go see someone. Pneumonia is nothing to be messed around with. I had it several years ago and know how sick he is feeling. Hope he gets back to his old self real soon. Speedy recovery!
You acted wisely! We had a young man in our town die recently from pneumonia simply 'cos he left it too late to seek help!
