Ouch........

what have I done this time..........I went and stood on a rusty nail.  It did not go right through my foot but it sunk in a bit.  I had a tetanus shot last year, so I'm good with that.  My foot has swollen up and my toes are sore.  If it's not getting any better in a day or two I'll head to the doctor or the emergency.

I had plans to do all sorts on Saturday but didn't get much done because of this.

Ds is feeling a lot better.  Although he too said he will head to the doctors later on in the week, as he is still coughing and he runs out of pills on Tuesday.  Neither of us are sure what's what when it comes with pneumonia.

Now Gill, you keep an eye on that foot. Promise me that you will go straight to the doctor if it gets worse. You can never be too careful.
I hope that it gets better soon.

Dear Gill - I'm so sorry you trod on a rusty nail. That sounds horrible. Please don't wait - go to the doctor's now before it gets too bad! You'll get better quicker if you do.
Pneumonia is one stage on from bronchitis. If the tubes to the lungs are infected and inflamed, then it's bronchitis. If the infection and the inflammation goes further in, then it's pneumonia. If both lungs are infected, it's double pneumonia.
D may be coughing for weeks yet. He has to get rid of all the phlegm in his tubes and lungs. You could help him with this. If he lies on his front on the bed, you can thump him (gently) on his back like doing small karate chops and make him cough. The more he coughs, the more he'll get rid of.
Steam is a great help too. A steam inhaler will give relief.
Good luck to the both of you.
Blessings, Star

You must take care of that foot -- sooner than later -- rusty nails are serious business. Good thing you had a tetanus recently but you still need to be very careful with infection. The previous poster was correct -- the coughing goes on for a long time and her technique for helping him clear his lungs is useful. He will be ok but it does take a while. Take care of yourself!

Gill, don't wait. You may be safe on tetanus count, but you don't want to risk MRSA. My mother's friend got a tiny cut out fishing that nearly cost him his life. Don't take a chance! Love you, dear. ~Liz

OUCH!! What were you wearing? I hope you didn't get a blow out in your coyote chasing wellies.
Take care, don't leave it too long to see the Dr. Did you debride the wound?

I agree, keep an eye on that foot. I did that a number of years ago and ended up with bigtime infection which took forever to get rid of. I'd go to the doctor now before that happens. Hugs
