Our Molly has taken up a new hobby.....

She has now taken up birdwatching, with the help from her mummy!!  I moved the ottaman beside the window so she can sit there.  I then moved the old patio table to the other side of the window, and spread bird seed on it.  She can sit there for ages just watching the birds.  It also alleviates the boredom for her, as it is so cold, so she's not going out as much.

She's watching a Dark Eyed Junco.

Here's a Chickadee feeding from the table, they are so tame, as they fly to the window to take a look at Molly.

A close up of a Dark Eyed Junco, there are a number of them now that come to feed, they are really pretty birdies.

I am guessing this is a regular Song Sparrow, please correct me if I am wrong?

Finally this is a close up of Molly's Paw. It is healing, but it still looks nasty, click on the photo to enlarge it, if you want!!

Bless her heart. I hope her paw heals soon. She is a blessed dog to have you to look after her.

One of our dogs loved birdwatching too, but her real fun was when a squirrel would come along and we would open the back door to let her try and get at it. The deck was fenced in though, so there was never really any chance of her catching the squirrels. I hope Molly's paw gets better soon, it does look quite painful :o(

Aren't animals interesting. Our Sassie (now gone) use to love to sit on the windowsill and watch the birds. She never went outside, yet she spent hours watching the birds. We sometimes thought the birds knew she was there and would never hurt them. Love the picture of Molly sitting on the ottoman.

btw - warmer weather coming. It was -7C yesterday, rather than -35C. Hugs

Our dog Cody loves bird watching too and can spend a good deal of time laying in the diningroom at the floor length windows watching the birds in the yard. Some times he gets lucky and gets to see squirrels there too, and hedgehogs in the fall. What a cute post!! ~~ Debby

I love the local cardinals that beg for tidbits off our table. Only bread and fresh veggies go it.

Hello Gill
Thanks for dropping by recently and for your comments. Its been suggested by the BOM that this year Christmas Day here in Melbourne will be fine and sunny with temps around 22/23c so those who want to put the oven on can do so lol - we are packing up a picnic and driving to Warburton to have it on the riverbank.
Looks like Molly's cottened on to my newest hobby of bird watching - mind you I think I'd be sharing her spot by the window if there was snow on the ground - much prefer sunny warm days with blue skies
Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year Gill
Take care
Cathy
