My brother Nick is a truck/wagon driver in Britain, as is my brother Pete. Please find a minute to pop by his blog and read this post It's awful what some people do. Thank goodness he is alright as it could have been a lot worse. I knew it happened a lot in Europe, but didn't know it was happening in Britain as well?
***I talked to my brother on Saturday and he said there was one secure parking place in Britain where the truck drivers could park up overnight***
Another oldie but goodie and one of the best Christmas songs out there, Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas." Not sure but wasn't this the first "fund raising" record? Such a lot of groups from my childhood singing in this song!!
Here are the lyrics:
It's Christmas time, there's no need to be afraid
At christmas time, we let in light and we banish shade
And in our world of plenty, we can spread a smile of joy!
Throw your arms around the world at christmas time
But say a prayer - pray for the other ones
At christmas time, it's hard, but when you're having fun
There's a world outside your window
And it's a world of dreaded fear
Where the only water flowing is a bitter sting of tears
And the christmas bells that ring there are the clanging chimes of doom
Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you
And there won't be snow in Africa this christmas time
The greatest gift they'll get this year is life
Where nothing ever grows
No rain or rivers flow
Do they know it's christmas time at all?
Here's to you
Raise your glass for everyone
Here's to them
Underneath that burning sun
Do they know it's christmas time at all?
Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
Let them know it's christmas time and
Feed the world
Let them know it's christmas time and
Feed the world
Let them know it's christmas time and
Feed the world
Let them know it's christmas time and
Feed the world
Let them know it's christmas time and
Feed the world
Let them know it's christmas time
I hope you like this song even though its not christmas!

That's awful about your brother, but I'm glad he is okay. Maybe the drivers are going to have to start "caravaning" together in large groups. Take turns standing guard. Reminds you of the old wagon trains!

Sorry to hear about that awful robbery. Sign of the times I'm afraid.
I love this Band Aid song, luckily they still play it a lot. Nice to see some of those singers and groups are still around and Spandau Ballet has recently reformed. They're all taking a leaf out of Take That's huge success.

wow sorry about your brother. nothing is safe anymore
just watched the video! love that song! is it just me but with the 80's hairdos i can't tell the boys from the girls?
Thank goodness your brother was not harmed. A real shame what this world has come to though, for people trying to earn an honest living.
Love, love, love the video. It really takes me back. Watching it made me think how young these artists were when they made this video. Then I had to laugh, as so was I : ) Where have the years gone? I think I still have the 45 for that song around somewhere.
That's so awful! I'm glad you're brother is okay though...I don't think we even have trucks with canvas sides like that here, that's just screaming for robbery, why don't they use big trailers like we do here?
It's one of my favorite Christmas songs. We really need to listen to the words. Hugs
