One good thing about being injured, I have to take it easy so have been busy sewing.
I am taking part in a Christmas swap on another site, so I decided to make a hexagon centre piece for a table using Christmas fabrics. This is how much I have done so far. The hexagons are 1 inch, so its coming together quite fast. I am going to do another floral row, and then a green row, or another red row, at that point I will see how big it is, hopefully big enough, then I will finish it off......no idea how to do that though??? This is for the quilting ladies out there, do I put batting in between the layers? Does anyone have a tutoral of how to finish one of these off?? Any help would be appreciated.
As I am busy with the Christmas one, the floral one has come to a stop, this is how much I have got done so far, it's done with 3/4 inch hexagons.
Also just seen this site called Sew Many Ways she makes such neat things on it........
Also check out Polka Dot Pineapple, she is so creative......

Hi Gill,
Thank you so much for linking to my blog...I really appreciate it. I just love the hexagons you are working on. I haven't touched mine in months. I've never finished off a larger one such as yours, but I have made a pin cushion with a smaller flower. To finish off the table center piece, you could either sew another flower together out of hexagons (it could be reversible for another season) or just cut a pices of coordinating fabric in one piece the same shape as your flower. Take the finished flower and whatever you've chosen for the backing and put them right sides together. Hand sew the edge with a very small whip stitch (not taking up too much fabric). Leave an opening, turn right side out and whip stitch the opening closed. Iron it flat. It's like making a pillow, but don't stuff it. Good luck with it. Can't wait to see it finished. By the way, I'm not sure if I told you before, but your blog is set to "No Reply", so no one can email you back at all when you leave them a comment. They can only leave you a comment here on your blog. If you want to see how to change the "No Reply" on your dashboard, go to my blog and see the post labeled NO REPLY in the right side bar. If you do change it, send me another comment on my blog to see if I can reply back to you.
Take care and thanks again for the link,
Karen
ps. too funny about the word verification...hottyma...I'll tell my daughters and see what they say!!
Those are both looking really good. I love the Christmas one. Then again I'm partial to Christmas fabric. I wish it could be used all year long.
Hugs...
Wonder what part of England you lived in , I,m English and I live in the east midlands ,-- the quilt , for hex,. I usually applique them onto another fabric and yes they do need ultra thin batting if using as a table centre , a backing fabric and quilting ---cottonreel
They both look great to me. I wish I had some artistic bones in my body :)
