Homemade remedies, cleaning windows and Crazy Daisy

If you didn't know me you would think I was a two pack a day smoker with this rotten cough.  As I have finished my ten day course of antibiotics (thank goodness), my mother suggested lemon juice, honey and hot water.  Between me and you I think she is trying to poison me!!!  I do not like honey, unless it's heavily  disguised.  Suffice to say drinking this is nasty.  Not sure how often I have to drink this, must ask her when I talk to her this weekend; and believe me I will be whining.  Though as she says, I'm not happy unless I am whining about something!!!

I did have more energy than I have had in a while on Friday; or it could be we have company coming this weekend and I just got off my butt to tidy up a bit!!!  Anyway I cleaned some of the windows inside and out.  Which upstairs means me sitting on the window ledge and hanging out of the window.  What it does do, is make my stomach muscles groan in agony at being used!!!

I love having clean windows, just like I love seeing straight lines on the grass when I cut it.  Does that make me a Crazy Daisy?  How often do you clean your windows?  One friend once said to me, she cleaned her windows once a year whether they need it or not......and she meant it!!

Talking of Crazy Daisy I love this new Portmeirion Crazy Daisy Line:

This toast rack is just so flipping cute as well:
Still haven't got around to writing about the kitchen..............

My latest treasure........

and it is a little beauty and quiet different.  I was lucky to "win" this tea/coffee and dessert set for twelve this week.  It's Korosten Porcelain from Ukraine and the pattern is Symphonia  I have sent an email to the person at the link to see if I have dated it correctly, as mine is stamped with either I 50 C or I 53 C.  It's in great condition, with no chips and just a little wear and tear on the gilt and lustre.  I paid $35 for the set.

They are demitasse cups, are so very small and as I am not keen on espresso, we'll just serve regular coffee in them.

These will make lovely little dessert bowls, for a chocolate mousse.
The handled bowl is a flower bowl/vase and there doesn't seem to be a top for the sugar bowl either?

I have four books review posts published today if anyone is interested, click on this link.

Wanted to thank you all for all your help

yesterday with identifying the William Adams & Son piece.  I sent an email to the Wedgwood Museum in England, as they bought out the William Adams factory in the 60's, to see if they could actually identify the exact age re; the backmark, as I still could not find the exact one.  So fingers crossed they get back to me at some point.

I have joined a monthly quilting club.  It's costing a huge $10 for the year and the material is supplied for the quilt squares for each month.  This is the first month's square:
As you can see it's not perfect and that's because of the way I cut it out, not the way it was sewn.  Though I felt like a brand new quilter when attempting this block as it's been over a year since I last did any quilting.  Couldn't even remember how to use my 1/4 inch foot.......  Mind you I had better remember it soon, as I have a baby quilt to make for Thanksgiving Weekend.

I think I'll make a start on it today!!!

I need your help....

Does anyone know this maker's mark:

It says, ICH DIEN Bird Eye W.A.X.S

However I am not 100% sure about the X, as it could be crossed swords?  Also on the feather to the right it has an embossed flower on it.

Here is another look at the footed bowl/dish.
As you can see it's quite old with a lot of wear.  However it's really pretty.
I would like to know the pattern and how old it is.

Now I know the maker of this piece, Royal Albert, "Top O' The Hill."  Just want to know if it should have a lid with it.
Again it's had a bit of use, and some of the gold finish has worn away.

To my mind I would date this piece around the 60's, possibly into the 70's?  Any thoughts?
At a local charity shop they have items in the two windows that go up for auction.  You write your bid in the book and one week it's one window; the next the other window.  The store finds it can make more money on it's better items that way.  I put a bid in for $20 for these two items and mine was the winning bid.

Next week's window had nothing in that I liked, but they were setting up the other window when I picked up these items so didn't see everything they had in it, but there were a couple pieces of furniture I think we may bid for.

I published another book review yesterday if you want to check it out here.

Sounds good to me.........

How about you?  Thank you to Carla for this one.
