A View from Molly's Window and a book review

Took this photo around 5pm on Wednesday.  The nights are starting to get lighter which is really nice.

This was an interesting book with great characters and a lot, and I mean an awful lot of information.  The author had really done her research on how a house was run "below stairs" in the early 1800's.  The thing is it was a bit too much information and it weighed the book down a lot and made it a little hard work.

Saying that I couldn't put the book down, I HAD to know what happened next, as all was not as it seemed.  Margaret/Nora makes the perfect lead character, and you really believed in her and wanted her to succeed.  You knew she was trying to fit in and even the other maids started to both like and trust her.  Nathaniel was a little weak as a lead character and it was obvious what was going to happen with him and Margaret.

However overall it was a both that I wanted and HAD to keep on reading, so in my eyes it was a successful book.

Stars out of 5 : 4.5 Really worth while reading if you enjoy historical romances set in the 1800's in Britain.  Be prepared to stick it out over the first few chapters until the story gets going.  Once Margaret/Nora gets to Maidstone the story really gets interesting.

Had our first real winter snow storm on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.  Looks like a winter wonderland until you had to go out and plow the driveway and brave the minus whatever temperatures!!!  Then it's a bloody freezing cold winter wonderland.  Roll on April!!!

View from Molly's Window

Back in October I mentioned in this post how Jane was starting a weekly meme over at the Maple Syrup Mob called A View from My Window posting every Thursday.  Well it officially started last week, but I didn't participate.  This week I am all organized and here are Molly's views from her window yesterday.  Everything was covered in ice as we had, had freezing rain overnight.

Various photos and a reminder about saving money for Xmas

My dear friend Jane from The Maple Syrup Mob is starting a new meme and I thought you all may be interested in it?  It won't officially be starting until November 17th, but thought I'd tell you all about it so you can think about what you will do.

Something is missing from the bathroom?

The washer and dryer have gone!!!!  Mind you don't get too excited as they are still not hooked up but are in the basement.  At least they are getting closer to the laundry room!!!!  Dh plumbed in the sink and is more or less ready to turn on the water.  Still don't have the electric hooked up, although all the plugs and switches are all wired in and plates on them.  I hope to go next weekend and pick up the door, not sure if dh will have time to hang it before my mother arrives, as there is a lot of electrical work still to finish, plus dh is pretty sick at the moment with his sinuses.

Also have the back splash tiles to find and the drop ceiling to put in, all those things can be done when we save up the money, as I can see me spending at least another $500 to do both of those jobs.  There is a lot of tile work to be done on the walls.  I will take photos when the washer and dryer gets hooked up.

Also do you remember this post when I was saying it was 90 days until the 20th of December and if you put $1 a day away each day you would have enough saved to pay for the Christmas meal and treats?  Is anyone still doing it?    I am and have got $28 saved up so far, so should reach my goal of $90.
