Paint By Numbers Review

Last month I picked up a Paint By Numbers Kit at Michaels Craft Store.  Here in Canada they are around $20, but if you use their weekly coupon you can get them cheaper.  This is the kit I picked up and is described as challenging; which I agree with.

As you can see it comes with everything and there were over 2700 sections to paint.
It comes with everything to hang it up with.  I attached it to a Command Hook at the end of the pantry in the kitchen.
Hubby bought me another one as part of my Mother's Day gift.  This one is described as Intermediate.

I have made a start, but I am guessing it will take me a month again to finish it, as I treat it like a puzzle and just do a bit then break off to do something else.
I will say it's difficult to see the numbers at times, so had to get out my magnifying glass again.
These kits are a lot more expensive than the dollar store kits.  However, we are painting on a canvas.  The paints are a lot thicker and creamier.  I like the hanging kit.  The brushes though are no better than the ones that come with the dollar store kits.

If I had to choose I would choose the Michael's kits over the dollar store ones.

Seriously???

Had to go to Michael's on the weekend to pick up a photo frame and saw this:

Everything you need to make your Christmas Wreath's?  I mean who is thinking about this?  It was hovering around the 40 oC mark this past weekend.  Halloween things were in the store along with the Fall decorations, which is bad enough, but Christmas things, way, way too soon for me!

(Insert rolling eyes emoji here!)

After doing more painting I popped out to run a couple of errands.

I went to Michael's, arts and crafts store to pick up some items for the little ones for Easter.  Went to pay for everything and I gave the cashier a 50% off coupon, which she used and then she applied a 10% discount.  Now being the honest person I am I asked her why she did that.

Her reply," it's a discount when you are 55 or older."

My face much have been a picture, as she then said:

"You are 55 or close to it aren't you?"

I said yes, and paid for everything and walked out of the store rolling my eyes.........I have just dyed my hair for heavens sake.........I will be 53 next week, so I guess I am close.

Went to Chapters the book store after that and there was a guy in his low 30's in the store with a little fluff ball of a dog.  Got a little  closer to them and the dog had a harness on and it said service dog and in red words "IN TRAINING."

He was in front of me at the check out, so I said to him, "he's a cute little guy (the dog) what is he training to be?"

His response was that it's his service dog and the dog's training will be done when they have some certain test done.  Wasn't sure what to say after that, I just assumed that as the dog was "in training," it wouldn't have been assigned it's final owner, but I guess not.

The harness on the dog also had PTSD on it, so I guess the owner has been diagnosed with PTSD.

As my dh said the poor guy was probably curled up in a corner now having a relapse after dealing with me!!  Again I just rolled my eyes.........

Busy day for me, with all that eye rolling!!!😉

Cheap and Cheerful Closet update.......

I got the front hall closet decorated and put back together over the weekend.  We normally put custom closet organizers in our closets, but don't have the funds for that at the moment, so did a cheaper alternative to tide us over, for well under $10.

This is the closet painted.  When the colour first went on, it reminded me of a nasty dirty diaper.  It dries a lot darker and the colour grows on you...thank goodness!
Here is the finished closet.  It is not only a place to store our coats and shoes, but also where some of my cleaning things go, so it does double duty:
To try and tidy up the things I put on the shelves, we got a five pack of clear plastic tubs and some "chalk board" label's from Michael's.
Not sure if you can see, but my bill came to $9.12 and that included a couple of buttons.
The chalk board labels are great as you can erase the writing as long as you use the chalk or chalk based pens, like I have for my chalk board.
So when you are happy with your writing just pop the label on the box.  Try not to tear it like I did!
Those chalk board labels are a new to me thing, that I think I will incorporate in other places in the house.  Have you discovered anything new to you for the house recently?

I am so behind in visiting people's blogs at the moment, so please forgive me.

Chalkboard and lost for words for a change.....

Chalkboards are all the decorating rage at the moment.  Dd has had one for a while now, she made it herself and it looks great.  You can see more of hers in this post.

I wanted one, more for the fact I could write things down on it, in the hopes it would help me remember things.  Dd made hers by buying a picture frame from Ikea and painting it with chalkboard paint.  I bought mine ready made at Michael's on sale for under $30.

Underneath it you can see I have hung a bar with a couple of pots on it.  All that is from Ikea  The bar is here, the hooks come separate here.  The two tubs and the plant is also from Ikea.

A close up of the faux plant.  It is quite realistic.
I got the chalkboard markers from Michael's.  They are around $20 but I got mine on sale.
Here is a close up of the detail on the frame, it is a weathered look.  Dd was up and wrote on it.
All in all very pleased with it all.  I have one spare hook on the rail, I want to get a small heart sign for there.  I have seen something I like on someone else blog, so just need to source one over here.

Now why was I lost for words.  I am not well; it's all in the head, ears, nose and throat.  I was up for nearly three hours through the night on Monday night.  My right ear is killing me, and I have a silly cough and moisture in my nose.  So I decided to go to the walk in clinic in town.  Believe this was not undertaken lightly, as I personally have better things to do than sit in a room for hours with sick people!!

It is a three hour round trip to go to our doctors office and see him; and as I don't have the energy to do that trip off I went to the walk in.  Will say it's a lovely office, super staff and very clean.  It is in our local Wal-Mart store.  Didn't have to wait too long probably around 1 1/2 hours.

The doctor came in told her what was wrong.  She looked in my ears and said they are nice and clear.  Looked in my throat and said that was fine and told me there was nothing wrong with me.  I said are you sure there is nothing wrong with my ear as it's really sore.  Nope, it was fine and take Sudafed to clear any congestion.  I said I am on blood pressure pills and was told not to take them.  Again, she said they would be fine for a couple of days.  And that was it......

Believe me when I say, my ears feel awful, my throat is on fire and this tickly cough is bloody annoying.  Something is going on.  So Sudafed it is, not sure for how long.  I'll give it three days and if I am no better, I will try and get into see my own doctor.

The teacup theory........

Just reading what's on that picture makes you relax.  I love to hold my tea or coffee cup in both hands, and it does feel good. The im...
