Can't live with it, can't live without it.........

I am probably not alone when I say I have a love/hate relationship with my cell phone.

Cell/mobile/smart phones have always been a mystery to me.  I have had my Android Smartphone now for three years and just the other day I discovered a way to clear things off the screen...........turns out there was a button that said CLEAR!!

For some strange reason I keep deleting or adding things and most of the time I have no idea how I managed that. I am forever running out of battery, and that's when I have actually remembered to turn it on.  Don't bother sending me a text unless I have just sent you one, as I always forget to pick them up.  Also I have no idea whatsoever how to pick up a message on the voicemail.  Daughter and hubby both have Apple i Phones, and have been on at me to get one of those as then when I screw up something AGAIN, they at least can fix it for me a lot faster.

As my contract was up (or so I thought) I wandered over to Bell to talk about my options.  Turns out I thought I had a three year contract, but Bell went ahead and got rid of three year contracts in favour of 2 year contracts over a year ago.  So I am under no contract and on a month to month basis.

So of course this sounds great I am under no contract.  Told him my dilemma and he said that he could offer me a 2 year contract with an Apple i Phone the cheapest being $80 a month.  I am currently paying $55 a month and am getting more "things."  So only an idiot would go ahead and change phones just so you get the most up to date phone.  I have better things to do with that $25 a month more it would cost to upgrade.  When dh retires we will then reevaluate the situation and probably go with the Apple i Phone.

Some people are joined at the hip with their phones, I am not.  Are you?

(By the way the Bell employee, told me that the monthly price increase was due to it being only a 2 year contract instead of a 3 year contract.)

P.S. Two new book's reviewed here

I have an Apple iPhone. I've had it for almost two years. I won't be changing just because it's out of contract. The phone before this was so old they had to give me a new SIM card so it would fit into today's phones lol
While I was going to th hospitals all the time with my friend my phone would keep me occupied for the hours we spent in th chemo ward. But now not so much. But I do still like playing this games when hubby is watching way too much sport on tv.

..it depends on how your family operates. In ours as we are all out a lot and apart we are phone dependant. Yesterday at work we had a server problem and all pc were pulled off the net. I had to get a message to a country colleague in Panama. I used Facebook messenger using 4G on my phone. So it solves problems too.
I'm android and will stick with it. I think once you're on one or the other you end up staying due to the data that hold on the system and clouds.

apple phones are very expensive. i just have my Samsung and I rely on it but am still learning new things like how to get phone messages. My cell is the only way to reach me at times so yes I rely on it heavily.

Not having a cell phone I know I am behind the times. Chuck has a work cellphone which we can use at home but seldom do. I have a few friends that are horrorstruck when I mention not having a phone. I imagine we will succumb and have one eventually! Good luck with yours!

If you're looking to save money and it sounds as though you enjoy doing that, why not look into getting a Tracfone. If it's a phone you occasionally use such as emergencies or seldom receive a cell call, they are a good way to go. You can buy one for as low as $20., another $20 will get you 60 mins. doubled(120)and 90 days airtime. Check into it and they are not 'tech savvy' Jitterbug is another good source for seniors. Bess

I have a "flip phone" which is as old as the hills. I pay $30.00 for 70 days, when that time is coming close I have to add more funds. If I do not use all of the $'s they accumulate. I forget to turn it on, when I do I text or call, but do not use it very much. It's use was for emergencies.

I have a Samsung Android and I keep it on the lowest possible power to reserve battery otherwise it is drained almost immediately. I don't have a data plan because I don't feel the need to surf the internet on the phone. I only have talk and text. Would internet be nice? Sometimes but not enough to pay the data fee. I used to have a little Samsung flip phone and changed to this one so the screen is bigger and I can seen it better and it is easier to text on because it is a qwerty keyboard. We have recent bought ipads and I am impressed with how Apple just seems to work and isn't quirky but I don't think I would ever shell out the money for one of the phones and the data plan. I am just frugal like that. I feel vulnerable if I don't have my phone with me but I am not one that tries to eat and hold it in my hand at the same time, much like my kids do.

I have a windows phone and bought it outright for the princely sum of $89.00+ taxes. LoL! I pay for a $10 plan monthly and don't even use that. I *NEVER* turn it on, I find cell phones annoying and refuse to drop $80+ on a cell phone plan so I can be at people's beck & call. LOL!!

I do have an Apple iPhone and I use it a lot. With our children living all over the country and in Japan it's the only way we can keep in touch. I love the face timing feature so I can talk to my grandchildren. Our home phone will just not do that for us. Also, with my health problems my husband wants me to have my phone with me at all times. However, I don't sit on it and talk and text and play games and surf the net all the time. I have too many other things to do like knitting! But the convenience is nice. My husband still has a flip phone and people make fun of him all the time. Since he has an iPhone for work we just didn't see the need of having his personal phone have Internet capabilities. Blessings, Betsy

I just go month by month with pay as you go, and my batteries are rechargeable, so an hour plugged in at night does the trick.

I turn my phone to silent when I am some place that it needs to be quiet, then will forget to turn it back to ringer for a week or so. I am not joined at the hip to any device except my Ipad and only it because I do all my reading electronically now.
