Like a kid in a candy store..........

I know we all have things we adore and places we love to visit.  In my case I adore visiting fabric stores and I feel like a kid in a candy store looking at everything.

I have been busy taking sewing classes at a local store called Country Concessions Quilt Store.  I was there at the beginning of the week to purchases some fabric!!  I took some photos while in there.

The building looks so quaint doesn't it?  Where the large windows are on the second floor of the building to the left is where meetings and classes are held.

Look at all those sewing machines.  They sell Pfaff machines.
Look at all those colours of thread.
This is what you see to the left of the door when you walk in.   It's where all the Tula Pink fabrics live!!
Another section with lots of goodies.  I see they have got a number of felt heavy duty pressing boards.
Here are some of the batiks, love the colours, but never been a fan at batiks.
They have just got new signage.
The "Queen" seemed pretty happy watching the world go by in the car while I shopped.
They don't have an online store yet, but it is in the works. Country Concessions is located in the village of Cookstown, if you click on this link you can read more about Cookstown.

I nearly forgot, here is what I bought!!  I bought the coral fabric and the black and grey fabric on the left of the photo.  You will see what I am making next week.

I couldn't help myself, honest..........

Unfortunately one of the quilting stores in Shelburne, Ontario closed on Saturday.  Fortunately though for me it was a good sale, as all material was 50% off.   If you're familiar with buying material in Canada, buying a metre of material costs generally between $12 to $20 depending on the fabric.  So 50% off was too good a deal to miss.

I bought the quilt pins as they are easier for me to handle with the heads on them.  The Babyville Boutique book has lots of interesting things in it and the yellow butterfly fabric you'll see below if featured in this book.  I am going to check out Hancock's Fabric and Hobby Lobby when I am in the States, as they carry the Babyville Boutique line of products. (The book and pins are sitting on top of my ironing board.

I have a project in mind for this fabric and I bought 1 metre.
This is the Babyville Boutique fabric which is waterproof.  I can see bibs with this fabric. I bought 2 metres of this fabric.
I bought 3 metres of this fabric, I love it.
This fabric is gorgeous, you can see more of the series here.  Someone had more or less cleared out the line.  I was lucky enough to get 2 metres of the purple and just over a metre of the green.  Got a project in mind for this as well.
So I picked up 9 metres of fabric, the book, pins and a 18 inch square cushion insert for under $95.  As I said, I couldn't help myself, honest!!!

Bits and bobs from the weekend.......

I bid on this at the charity shop and won:
This is a close up of the centre:
Now to be fair it looks old; however is it real, I do not know.  I paid $30 for it because I love it regardless of whether it is real or not.  It certainly looks real.  It's now hanging in my sewing room.

I found a lovely little Fabric and Yarn store called Bee Quilt in Niagara on the Lake.  They stock Liberty Fabric from London which is gorgeous, however at $35 a yard it's pricey.  They also stock Kaffe Fassett fabric which is a little cheaper.  I picked up a baby quilt set from the Riley Blake collection called Little Red Riding Hood.

I have been coveting these glasses for a while in Chapters, but at $8 each thought they were too expensive.
So imagine my delight when I was in Chapters on the weekend and they were 50% off.  They are glass and as I was saying to the cashier I think we can put the plastic Tupperware beakers away for a little while!!  They look as good close up:
Can't believe we are half way through July, the month is flying by.

Wish me luck and another project........

I am heading to the dentist this afternoon for my 6 month cleaning.  I can see it is going to be an interesting visit, as I have toothache all the time on my right hand side where I had the root canal.  Needless to say I am not a happy camper......

I have been busy with this cross stitch card that I got free in a cross stitch magazine.  I have no idea who this card is for but I do know it's not for dd!!  I have started one for her and will show you it next month.

Should say although the cross stitch is finished I still have to adhere it to the card stock.  It is from The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady.

The weather was really strange on Monday.  It was warm enough to be outside with a t-shirt on, as there was no need for a sweater or jacket.  I even barbecued at supper, yes that was why there was smoke in the air!!!  I even got into the garden and pulled up the canna lily bulbs  I also picked the last tomato of the season and enjoyed it on our burgers.

I also meant to say the material I got from the show on the weekend, was from Red Rooster Fabrics and is called Neutral Territory

Grocery shopping.............

I did a "little" bit of grocery shopping on Friday.  I had read on a group I am part of on Facebook, about how some couples only s...
