Pots and Pans............

I need new saucepans.  I am fed up with buying them, saying they are non-stick and only lasting a short while before everything starts stinking to the bottom of them.

So I am looking for recommendations.  Do you have a brand that you swear by?  Extra points if it's a Canadian brand!!

Currently I own Heritage, The Rock brand from Canadian Tire.  These ones:

Our son has this set from Our Place.  I used them when we last babysat and thought they were good, but they are pretty pricy.

I have seen on the internet, people using pans that the handles come off, that may save on storage space?  I have had T-Fal in the past and been happy.  For reference, I cook on an electric flat top stove.

I am willing to pay a lot more, if I know they will last.

I understand your frustration. I have 2 Cuisinart frying pans. I've had Calphalon and Circular in the past. Past because they began to stick, I have turned to well-seasoned cast iron for most of my frying pan usage. I did buy a Hex Clad pot about a year ago and fell in love, so bought two more. They have worked very well but they are expensive - time will tell if they were worth it!

Paderno stainless steel. Canadian and Canadian tire has them on sale frequently

I bought a set of Zwilling from The Bay about 20 years ago. Can’t remember exactly how much I paid but it was half price and I stacked a deal by applying for a store credit card and got another $200(?) off. I can remember the sales clerk was amazed - think it was $950 full price. Anyway, they are still as good 20 years later.

I have just found out that The Bay is no longer!

I have read in several places that non-stick pans aren't healthy so you might want to research that aspect. I think Meyer is made in Canada but they aren't non-stick as far as I know and I think likely they are expensive.

So far all my cooking has been done in pyrex / metal trays, and I put foil down below as to not get it stuck, lol! I see great suggestions here, but I don't think my family uses non stick really, so no real suggestions. Mayer and Paderno were recommended on the Reddit sub I follow that is all about buying Canadian. I would say once it isn't American though, I don't mind buying.

Hubby just replaced all of ours. Michelangelo was the brand name, they're a honeycomb design, *not* non-stick because that stuff really is bad for you. They weren't cheap, but they are really nice. They hold heat and sit very flat on the burner, none of that wobbly stuff we've found in cheaper pans.

I stopped using nonstick a long time ago when I had read several consumer reports and many many articles on the chemicals that make up the nonstick part. I use stainless steel with coconut oil and it cooks just fine. I also sometimes use the cast iron but I also found that after some use (even tho they were always seasoned) parts of the pan started coming off

Lagostina stainless steel. Used them all my married life. One son when he set up home bought himself a set at the Bay. Like Traveller above he got an awesome deal by buying the at Bay Days and gift cards he got as a housewarming present from his aunties.
