A full English breakfast is something we enjoy every now and then, but not for breakfast, but for a main meal at night.
I hate making it though because of the grease. I like my bacon nice and crispy so it has be to overcooked within an inch of it's life, so you know that's all the fat cooked out of it. That fat is then to dispose of. Fried eggs, need to be fired in oil. Then the sausages give off grease, so all in all a greasy mess.
I did make a version of this the other evening, but I cooked the bacon and breakfast sausages in the oven on parchment lined sheets. With parchment paper covering the top of them also, so the fat didn't go everywhere. We also had baked beans and scrambled eggs as well. It was tasty and made a nice change.
If you order this in the UK, you may also get, mushrooms, black pudding, toast, tomatoes, and if in Scotland haggis.
So what meal do you enjoy but hate preparing?

Your English breakfast sounds delicious. I know what you mean about all the grease. I think making lasagne is a lot of work, but we don’t have it very often. I’m glad I enjoy working in the kitchen. My mother never did enjoy it, but my grandmother did. I think maybe that skips a generation? My daughter does not enjoy kitchen work or cooking at all.
I very seldom have an English breakfast because of all the grease, my mother would also add fried bread when she prepared it.
I don't like making cabbage rolls, so only made them a few times. Being on my own, I now find cooking all meals a chore, even worse now that I cannot smell and my taste buds are not as they should be. (All the result of my accident las year).
Yessss bacon is so delicious and such a pain to prepare! I love stir fries and salads, but -- because I prefer to make my own sauces and dressings and chop my own veggies -- they require a ton of prep work. Sometimes I'm up for the work and sometimes I'm not.
I must admit I hate cooking anything at all but if I had to pick something I truly hate it's the smell of bacon cooking. I don't mind eating it, provided it's close to being burnt, but can't stand the smell of it. Fried foods don't happen in our household so any bacon we do eat comes from restaurants.
I love cooking so don't actually mind cooking anything really. I keep all the bacon grease and use it to fry onions in before making a good rich broth. It adds loads of flavour
I love the full English, any time of day. I love fish but I'm not very good prepping it so apart from salmon, I save it for ordering out. Same with grilling/BBQ.
I've only ever had a full English breakfast in the UK and I LOVED it. I hate preparing salad...tasty but tedious.
I often have breakfast for dinner, usually with sausage rather then bacon, and definitely with Heinz baked beans. No other make will do.
I don't actually like preparing or cooking any food, I only do the cooking because we wouldn't eat otherwise, lol. Haven't had a fry up in such a long time but I used to cook the bacon and sausage in the oven, less mess and grease.
Your English breakfast sounds wonderful, Gill! I love roast chicken, mashed turnips and carrots, potatoes and stuffing! It's a lot of work to make but I just love it...so I rarely make it.
I need my bacon cooked like you, otherwise I think it is raw. I actually hate cooking steak so I let Harvey cook that.
God bless.
