Bit of inspiration...........

I ordered the free paint chart from Farrow and Ball and it arrived the other day with a book to inspire you.

Bit of a problem though it also came with the price list and at $90 to $125 CDN a gallon for the paint it's a bit too pricey for me.  The wallpaper runs at $175 to $275 for a 11 yard roll.  I guess you could just paper a feature wall?  It's flipping expensive though?

Regardless I put the paint chart on the family room wall to see what colours I liked.  Still thinking about it, but I do know when I do paint it will be a nice light colour, to contrast the dark wood floors.  Should say the wood panelling will be coming off at some point!!!

What is your favourite colour to put on your walls?

Should say dh is fine, I will post more about the hospital visit tomorrow.

I'm struggling with paint colours myself. Home Hardware can colour match paint chips when you find your colour for a fraction of the cost.

F&B is INCREDIBLY expensive over here too. The best bit of F&B is reading the bizarre names they give to their paint colours. Rectory Red, Cooking Apple Green, Cat's Paw, Dead Salmon...
We have painted a number of room sin a blue shade similar to F&B Lulworth [but it is 'store own brand', we got a job lot Very Cheap in a sale - it has now done 5 rooms] Was quite thrilled that my SIL thought it WAS genuine F&B!!!

have fun choosing your colours

Hi Gill,

Good to have you back; I've missed reading your blog. Glad your Step-Dad and DH are doing well.

I love cream or pale pink on my walls as I love the fresh, open feeling those colours offer in the Winter months. Also seeing the beautiful colours of the Summer sunset on the walls is almost magical...

All the best to you.

Why is wallpaper so expensive and hard to come by in Canada? And that paint is waaayy overpriced if you ask me.
For paint, I like the green tones myself.

Peach or sage green. green works with everything but your samples are so small, how can you choose? I usually get a few of the same coloured chips, tape them together , pin them to the wall and look at it different times of the day. It works for me.

Decorating is exciting but $$$$

Can't say that I have a favorite color...all our walls, except bath, are a version of white...right now. But I do love other colors...

I think it all depends on your colour scheme, furniture colour & style, etc... I really like the deep red colours on walls, but don't think's be brave enough to do it myself. lol!

I like F&B Lime White, White Iie and Pavillion Grey - our whole house is done it. It's about £32 for 2.5 litre (not cheap) but it's eco friendly so I like it.

Had my ensuite painted a pale shade of lavender. Everyone was doubtful at the beginning and now like it.

The husband has been promising to do the family room in pale sage for nearly a decade.

Oh, go with any of the hardware boxes custom tints on their own label paint. You'll save a bundle.

Wallpaper has never been really "popular" in Canada. Usually only find it on the wall of homes bought from British people or really old, old people.

But F and B colours are so beautiful!

It is hard. I am considering using their paint for the outside woodwork at the front of our cottage.

We'll see how the piggy bank looks.

Wow! Simplicity... is right on target for me. I paint anything and everything peach/apricot with sage green accents -- that is until my husband says, "Aren't we going overboard on the peach/apricot?"
