I tell my husband to cancel the landline and the cable. He actually watches cable TV! He feels the landline is a safety necessity as we are getting older. I hate Rogers. We get Netflix free through a son, and I pay annually for Prime, $89.27.readlistenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05942172560991385796noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1605129043543619307.post-16310330866440859842020-01-23T18:59:37.676-05:002020-01-23T18:59:37.676-05:00Could a pay as you go for the cellphone be more pr...Could a pay as you go for the cellphone be more practical?William Kendallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00331324250821836822noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1605129043543619307.post-55573599665951536762020-01-17T14:17:19.355-05:002020-01-17T14:17:19.355-05:00not quit as high in the US but still to highnot quit as high in the US but still to highbarbara woodshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07824180957906837061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1605129043543619307.post-84268334986080192232020-01-17T12:00:11.325-05:002020-01-17T12:00:11.325-05:00I hate Rogers. O...In my province, Rogers left about 20 years ago. Overnight we became Shaw customers.

My biggest beef with them is they never look at your package. I found out our package was no longer offered and managed to go down by $30/month, only because I was having Router problems!

Our landline is from Telus, $35/month. Won't give Rogers that money. When the internet goes out so does your landline.

My cell? Well, I'm cheap and rarely use it. $100/year on a pay as you go card. Get charged roughly $4/month to cover my text package (30 texts and unlimited incoming texts) and my 911 fees. I only use wifi on my phone, no data, etc.

So telecommunications come in around $200/month.50 and countinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12051116860123693646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1605129043543619307.post-61409737753184512822020-01-16T18:35:36.242-05:002020-01-16T18:35:36.242-05:00Good grief Gill that's nearly 200 quid a month...Good grief Gill that's nearly 200 quid a month. Although we have now had our phone (yeas a landline) and internet raised to £53 a month & our two mobiles on separate contracts cost about £20. To be honest I'd get rid of the landline if we didn't need it for the internet. We've hit lucky with the telly licence, it's free this year now my husband is 75 which saves us £155 a year. Probably won't last though there's talk they'll stop the freebie.

We don't have any other telly charges, no Sky, BT, Netflix or sport channels. We decided we don't watch enough telly to need any other stuff. My husband would like a sport option as he gets annoyed that the cricket, Formula 1 & golf are often on Sky but he refuses to have anything to do with supporting Rupert Murdoch's empire!

The best programmes are on BBC anyway & we can watch stuff we've missed on iPlayer along with loads of box sets of previous series.

Looks like we're all being ripped off with the communications & media stuff.

Winifredhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12415302188575538163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1605129043543619307.post-9560086222529043362020-01-16T18:17:19.779-05:002020-01-16T18:17:19.779-05:00Oh, Gill, that seems like a lot. I have been with Rogers for ever and often make my claim for a reduction based on being a loyal and long term customer. This has worked a couple of times especially when I threaten to go to Bell which has just put Fibre Optic cables in our area. Good luck with future negotiations!Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05224823051315463861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1605129043543619307.post-90357981005079724742020-01-16T17:56:12.730-05:002020-01-16T17:56:12.730-05:00I'm trying to cancel my Rogers before the 2oth...I'm trying to cancel my Rogers before the 2oth. I'm seriously thinking of going down to basic and then adding a sports pkg. - love my baseball but I'm still checking out the options. I have my TV and Internet with them for about $160 per month. I have a landline with BELL and I'm thinking of doing away with one of the additions that I have there. Netflix is $14/month - love it - and my cell is only $20 per month - it's a basic phone just for emergencies and the fee is grandfathered in - all in all about $275 per month - crazy!

Plus - I just came in from No Frills - can't believe how much some items have gone up in just a few weeks! I am shopping as strategically as possible now - stocking up when there is a sale - using alternatives - only buying meat when its discounted and ensuring that I get my Loyalty points!! I'm supposed to be eating low carb and that means not a lot of rice, pasta or potatoes - the things that usually bulk out a meal! Although as I get older and with my current work schedule I do find that either two meals and a snack, or even just two meals a day is enough now. It never gets any easier does it?
Margie from Torontohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10103835021764804099noreply@blogger.com
